Yes, but my supervisor is in Chemical and Biological Department, i started out working with him on the extinction coefficient of the nanoparticles used in Photodynamic Therapy on cancer, and later moved to the Super lens, and the department said the former is not relevant to my field of study, and not eligible for my thesis topic.

That's one thing i always love (sarcasm) about academic advisers, they tend to place roadblocks especially when we are interested in particular subject matter. I guess its necessary as we tend to go into specifics and stray away form the premise of the alternate hypothesis. Just this week i was told to delete an entire chapter because i was told it was "unnecessary".
At this point, I'll do what they ask. I'm to the point where i just want my Ph.D. And start working. lmfao!

Btw, your research interest is very interesting. If you're studying into the use of photo-dynamic therapy of cancer, this is more of a biomedical engineering focus! Good luck on the thesis. Trust me, its going to be worth it. If you're considering going into the Ph.D track, i'll give you this advice: start your dissertation research and literature review now. Its going to be better and easier for you after you finish all your academic doctoral courses. And it will make the IRB process faster. Just make sure to contact your doctoral content specialist on a regular basis..you have to bother them . If not they won't respond. lol.
