Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Rafale with RBE2 would be able to to go toe-to-toe with the J-10C in the air-to-air regime while boasting greater payload capacity and a greater # of hardpoints. The J-10C is indeed a significant upgrade for the PAF but keep in mind that the IAF has already been training and DACT-ing with a J-10C-class fighter - namely the Rafale - since summer of 2020. This is not to dismiss the fact that there are more Rafales in India than there are J-10Cs in Pakistan.

Well,India having 36 Rafales is not much more than 25 that PAF will be getting.

Like I say the IAF dominance of the skies over S Asia is well and truly gone for decades to come now.

J-10C gives PAF an edge that no F-16 version can give. Not even 70/72 with AIM-120D. That edge is an AMRAAM-based PL-15 with longer range than Meteor. Meteor surpasses AIM-120D and PL-15 in many technologies like 2 way communication, and largest NEZ but PL-15 offers a better range (confirmed by PAF chief officially recently). The only way to fight an air battle with AIM-120D (against Meteor or PL-15) is by carrying it in a stealthy jet to get that extra 50-100 km advantage with low RCS. Otherwise it's the best deal for PAF right now.

Exactly, by virtue of the JF-17’s small size but powerful AESA radar (and option for an IRST pod) it may get a first detection advantage over the Su-30MKI (especially if RAM coating is applied in key places and a good EW suite is added in)

What I hope the PAF works on is sortie generation; landing the JF-17 on motorway bases and refueling/rearming and send the plane up 5-6 times a day, to make up for any numerical disadvantage. With the right standoff weapons, PAF maybe able to hold out for a long time, and with a lend/lease option it could replenish its numbers for any attrition in war time.

With the F-16 I hope the PAF gets the Turkish upgrade so it can put Turkish missiles on our planes and have unrestricted resupply in times of war and afterwards. The Turks have a Ramjet powered BVR missile, called the Gokhan, in development and it would probably be the most capable missile we could see on our F-16s because I doubt we could get anything better then the current Aim-120C5 in the future. Also, with the use of a modern Turkish EW suite the plane will be able to hold its own against the Rafale and an upgraded Su-30MKI for the foreseeable future.

Only with this kind of upgrade could the F-16 even hope to come close to the capabilities the J-10 currently give the PAF.

Don’t forget PAF will add J35 (most probably) in to its inventory before India access to 5th Gen. That would be serious trouble for IAF in future. India has to prepare for two front.

PL-15 does have a two way datalink.
The most important difference is the type of engine.
