Tamil language is more than 5000 years old and its literature is vast and varied. Tamil is one of the longest surviving classical languages in the world. Just 14 years ago, a survey concluded there were 1,863 newspapers published in Tamil proving the language is still used today

Sanskrit

Researchers believe that Sanskrit, which heavily influenced many European languages, originated from Tamil. Sanskrit is the classical language of India, dating back to 3000 BC.Sanskrit is still one of India’s official languages, although its use in the vernacular is limited.

Which means all the Indian languages, irrespective of Tamil origin or Sanskrit origin, came from Tamil. That would mean no need for Tamil nationalism. @manlion , what a self-defeating argument you have put forth? :woot:

Unless Tamil is given it's rightful recognition by GOI, which will never happen. The reality - Aryan / Indians will do everything to destroy /suppress Tamil. To safeguard Tamil from this destructive force, TN has to break away from India

Let the Indians worry about that :)

The oldest languages are more in line with the, "click", languages of S. Africa. Vastly older, before humans even went outside Africa.

I dont know why the script matters either. They all descend from brahmi script around the Maurya era, which is only dated around 5th-3rd Century BC.

The scripts are related, the languages are not.

These Periyar freaks never ceases to amaze me. They claim everything from Korean to Finnish as Dravidian language.
