The rumours are in: Microsoft is planning to unveil Windows 9 around April 2015 but will announce the release at its Build 2014 developer conference. This will be part of the company’s Threshold plans, says Paul Thurrott, all part of the many updates expected from Microsoft.

Although we don’t know what changes will be made to Windows 9, it is likely that the company will use the branding in order to shift attention away from the negativity surrounding the Windows 8 operating system. Reportedly, ‘Metro 2.0′ will be inside the new OS and this could be the thing to improve Microsoft’s app world and tile design. There has also been a rumour that the ‘Start’ menu will be back for Windows 9 but it could be that we see that sooner as part of the Windows 8.1 update later this year.

Micrsoft is apparently in the last stages of planning for Windows 9 and work will probably start once the announcement has been made at the Build 2014 developer conference, no doubt once it has created some hype around the new OS by revealing some of the planned changes.

The hype will certainly be welcome and coupled with some innovation, hopefully Microsoft can make a success of Windows 9, perhaps where Windows 8 failed. Although there will be a Windows 8.1 update, it seems that all focus is pointing towards a new future in Windows 9.

. . .
Best OS ever made by Microsoft is Windows 7..
Best OS that is currently available is Debian "Wheezy"

.
Windows 8 and 8.1 are pretty awesome, at least for me. Since, majority of blokes are used to XP / Win 7 and wouldn't want to see a drastic change hence the dislike for Windows 8 and 8.1.

when it comes to Linux, I prefer SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop. Debian works best for developers :D

:hang2::hang2::hang2::hang2: man , cant they just give it some other name ?

" Khidkian " kaisa rahega instead of Windows ;)

Windows 8 is a catastrophe for developers. Even for entertainment users, the "metro" interface is purely useless and confusing. No doubt why Windows 8 bypassed the internationally acclaimed failure of Windows Vista

Indeed, Debian is best for Developers. For entertainment purpose, I think both Ubuntu and Linux Mint are equally good ..

I agree. I have seen scores of developers complaining on MS forums.

But as a sysadmin, I prefer Windows 8 and 8.1.

I used Ubuntu as well as mint however, didn't like them compared to SuSE.

We have Gates, Windows, what's missing ? A Villa, Doors & fence ? ;)

I know so many people that are still perfectly happy with Windows XP lol

I genuinely hate windows 8. It's windows 8 where they screwed up. It's no longer user friendly. Windows 7 was so much better.
Not sure why I am ranting, perhaps we need to get with the times.

I miss the good ole days of Windows XP
