What's new

Windows 9 Will Be Here April 2015 Says Microsoft

I which that other computer hardware companies would develop their own OS.

It would be cool to have an OS specially designed for Gaming :P

But as a sysadmin, I prefer Windows 8 and 8.1.

I also know a system (TCS) admin who is quite satisfied with Win 8.1

But as a novice developer, I faced a few big issues with the API (WinRT) and decided to move back to Windows 7

Fact is while i have both XP and win 7 i do not want to upgrade. i hate win 8

I bought HP laptop two days ago thinking there will be drivers for Windows 7 but when I went home and saw that this shit is just made for Windows 8 aka crap 8 and there are no drivers available on other sites. I had to download and install windows 8.

Man this Windows 8 proved to me why its truly dubbed as Crap 8. Now im going to make this laptop dualboot and install Kubuntu.

DUCK U WINDOWS 8

Try Ubuntu or Xubuntu. Kubuntu has the KDE shell - quite unstable. :) Trust me - no jhanjhaat!

You may try running drivers (search and download Win 7 drivers available for old models which is nearest to the new one) in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

What do you mean Kubuntu has KDE shell???:undecided: , KDE is not a shell it is a full-fledged desktop enviroment and a very flexible and customizable one ,,,on the other hand Ubuntu has Unity shell on top of Gnome desktop enviroment .. Xfce is nice though..
For beginners Linux MINT with any Desktop enviroment is best..

M using fedora20 with gnome:-)

Windows 8 and 8.1 are pretty awesome, at least for me. Since, majority of blokes are used to XP / Win 7 and wouldn't want to see a drastic change hence the dislike for Windows 8 and 8.1.

when it comes to Linux, I prefer SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop. Debian works best for developers :D

" Khidkian " kaisa rahega instead of Windows ;)

People want a OS that works silently in the background and is light. On that counts Windows 8 failed: with metro the OS is everywhere and full of useless applications.

True - that was a slang I use for KDE. And it is not very polished yet. Windows users will find KDE quite "at home" though...
GNOME is a better one. XFCE is light and cool.

I didnt used too much Kubuntu jsut installed on VBox found it stable. But there is no OS that match the elementary. Flawless Victory.

This model is new but u gave a nice tip COMPATIBILITY MODE

Then you can safely try out Xubuntu. Lubuntu is lighter but is for system that have 128 MB RAM! Go for Xubuntu - it looks great and is very light.

It all depends on one's perception. I agree that, it takes some time for new users to get accustomed with Win 8, if one is willing to adopt the change, one will see it's better than older versions.
