New Delhi: If in the near future the government withdraws the word 'India' from the Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI), don't be surprised.
Yes, that's possible as there are strong indications from the sports ministry, which is determined to ensure that the cashrich board adheres to the guidelines meant for all national sports federations ( NSFs).
And if the issue reaches a flashpoint, the BCCI would not be able to field a 'national' team. It could also mean that Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Co. would possibly no more represent their country. If the richest sports body of the country remains adamant, it could lead to a legal battle with the government.
BCCI, at a special general body meeting on Saturday in Mumbai, decided not to reply to the ministry's letter and decided that it would go for legal opinion if pressurised further.

Its must be done.BCCI is behaving as the Tsar of cricket ont only in india but also in the world.Sports ministry angry with BCCI coz it refused to send cricket team to Asian games under Indian Olympic Association. Its good to see Sports ministry taking it seriouly.BCCI must be shown who is the boss in india.

^^^
Who wants to play in Asian games or for that matter even in Olympics in some stupid T20 or ODI format?

We love test matches and were busy playing some during the calender clash.

Do you hold the same opinion over other cricketing board or is it just BCCCI of "India"??? :pop:

Nope, the sports minister would be really at the end of his political career to try such a stunt, atleast in India

As they claim it as its india's national team they wont be allowed to do it.

Right decision by sports ministry...... BCCI showing so much ego

Its time to show them their real place

Wrong move. Indian govt. controlled sports federations are all biting dust whereas BCCI has succeeded bcoz there is no govt. control over it.

I know BCCI sometimes tries to act smart but we have to accept that they have a done a great job recently.

The Indian govt. is eyeing BCCI's money more than anything else.

There should be some kind of govt. controls over these sports bodies...

They do what ever they wants, breaking the contracts, etc..

In fact they filed an affidavit in the court that Its not Indian team who are playing international matches, its BCCI team while BCCI-Zee court case. Because of this argument, Zee lose the case in the court.

the sports federations controled by indian govt are globle sports , has a very though compitition , unlike the cricket where there are only 5-6teams keep playing within themself..
take kabadi for example , we are winners everytime coz it's only played in few countries...
the decission by BCCI to not sand the cricket team to asian games has drown a line that , BCCI team don't deserved to be called a national indi team....BCCI acting autonomus like a private club..

No Test status country sent their first team, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka all sent B, infact C teams. Surely India with the popularity that cricket has there + the talent present could have gotten together 11 guys and sent them to China?
