What's new

Will the World Cup's Muslim stars risk glory to fast for Ramadan?

There is no personal choices when you represent your nation. It is the moral and religious obligation of those representing their nations to not let personal choices come in the way of giving your best.

If you want to play while fasting---then you need to train wihile fasting as well and then how your capbilities are either enhanced or dimisnished will tell you if you re doing the right thing.

The problem here is that you have trained while consuming food & fluids and suddenly in the midst of mjor event sudddenly you want to find God---and Obligte Him of your piety---that is what it is.

This is pure blackmail of God.

Experience!

They played very well and could have won it, they wernt taking their chances or to be more accurate they were not calm when the chances came and rushed them

I also didnt realise how many muslim players some teams had, the belgian and swiss squads have about 7 muslims each

Agreed. It was one of the best games of this world cup for me. Extremely fast-paced. And yeah, some chances should have been availed that weren't. Moreover, in overtime they just seemed spent .
Interesting that some teams had a lot of muslims.:-)

Why the **** does one feel tje necessity to intrude into pnes personal matter. You guys make an issue out the most silliest things, guys have no momey to educate your kids and also go around killing each other within your own religion but want to debate about if someone is gonna to fast or not

Well thats one reason why the entire subcontinent has so many places which are still stuck in the dark ages.

I remember years back I broke my personal record for the 400 meter dash when I was fasting..I unsuccessfully tried to break my record on the 800m dash after taking a short rest. For the next 4 hours until iftar my mouth was as dry as a rock
maa sadkay, how are u feeling now? were you running wearing a mesh langot with hydrating portable fan?

I dont think subcontinent has any say or issue with that-
Its the foreign non muslim media thats trying creating an issue concern when there is none- seems like they are more interested in knowing how a Muslim player will react to that-

Algerian coach holds Ramadan reaction Press Conference - YouTube

No, people in this part of the world are giving too much attention to religion and are making it a public affair..... while too few care about the real issues to promote development.

even if they will they will iftar with a nice cold beer
wtf is wrong with you?
do you have a problem with islam or muslims? I've been reading your posts and you seem like you do.

If there is a choice, there wouldn't have been the need to make news headline at all, no? It seems a large amount of people have problems with that.

Christians also have a fast period before Eastern, but it's a no news matter here, because it's indeed up to the individual to fast or not to fast.
christian fasting is bs and almost no one observes it thats why you have no headlines. don't get jealous now lol.

Well said.

For so many Muslims, fasting and other rituals are for group thing, for outward appearance of piety.

Christians today make lot less noise about rituals. I wish we learn some of these good habits from Christians.

I only wish.
so fasting is about outward appearance?no matter what you will always be a bigot my friend.

Bad language to be avoided during Ramzan. Thank you.

It is all upto you Sir.

If you seek affirmation from other men/women then it is for outwards appearance.
If you don't make a big deal that you are fasting. then it is not.

In either case it is between you and Allah.

Imagine playing for 90 minutes while fasting. SubhanAllah, they are what you call soldiers.

being on an empty stomach is quite advantageous...if youve hydrated well before the game then youre fine

but by second half most people would be pretty beat - especially mid-fielders
