Will the US provide Tomahawk cruise missile to Vietnam?

You're welcome.

And the U.S. will provide Vietnam support if China invades Vietnam or take more of the islands. Just the recent events started a frenzy by the Vietnamese against the Chinese. So like I said, you never know what could happen.

n the tomahawks will be fire by what? tiny ships? n no i dnt see any war comin in forseeable future.. nor usa directly jumping in it either.

it's possible to launch a Tomahawk from a ground vehicle
BGM-109G Ground Launched Cruise Missile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

but it was for nuclear deterrence.

and i don't think U.S would sell or let Vietnam build Tomahawks, because of MTCR and it would give China a excuse to sell the same type of missiles to Cuba and Venezuela.

fanboys... :(

How about a submarine?

The only US submarines which can launch this is the modified Ohio/LA class or the Seawolf/Virginia class.

I am not sure the US is going to sell these sensitive high tech weapons to Vietnam.

The Tomahawk is launched from the Mk 41 VLS.

Does Vietnam have a launch platform capable of carrying the Tomahawk to begin with?

There was this variant of Tomahawk which can be launched from land called BGM-109G Gryphon...

In a communist countries, the opponency can be very strong because of long time, high pressure and single party dictatorship. People ask for democracy. A small incident can lead to revolution. This is different from the two party system of the U.S, where it's pretty much the same whoever take office.

Chinese ships are circling the islands everyday my friend. And the U.S. doesnt shoot a single bullet.

I understand the concern. However, staying in middle of the U.S. and China is dangerous. The U.S. sells her values and democracy when she supports a country. I don't know how much CVP can accept that. You should know it better since you live there.

We all stay in middle of US and other big nations.
Vietnam doesn't unconditionally accept all alien values, if yes Vietnam would have been US ally since 2000s

I understand. Just maximizing national interests while keep CVP in power. I think China and Vietnam has been reconciled when top leader of Vietnam sent his representative to China weeks ago. I guess some compromise has been reached. Who knows, relationship between communist countries are always different from those of western countries. I like PHO, by the way.

VCP could stay if they are good for the country.
If others could do better job, it's their turn

Not really. If I make it right, people in Vietnam still don't have rights to form parties. Dont have freedom to make their own newspapers. And VCP is the only legal party in Vietnam. Publicly criticizing VCP will be sentenced.

In an environment like this, VCP will be there forever unless there's a revolution.

I quote this guy's words:
Grant McCool of Reuters wrote: "Vietnam's Communist rulers want to send a zero-tolerance message to advocates of a multiparty system by putting several political activists on trial. The Communist Party of Vietnam is the only legal political party in Vietnam and the defendants face criminal charges for forming political groups and anti-government propaganda. "The security authorities have moved to prevent any activity that would detract from these elections," said Carl Thayer of the University of New South Wales in Canberra. Longtime Vietnam-watcher Thayer said that despite "measurable improvement" for tolerance of political criticism, there were "three no's -- no political pluralism, no multiparty system and no political opposition

Again, if VCP is not good for the country, it would be replaced.
See Soviet Union.

That can only happen if the people are properly informed & educated first see Glasnot. The VCP have total complete control of the media & internet that's why they can stay in power 4 so long see North Korea.

'The Regime Could Collapse Quickly'

When journalist Pham Chi Dung quit Vietnam's Communist Party in December, he was so angry he published his letter of resignation on the Internet. One of the country's leading dissidents, Pham accused the party of rampant corruption and monopolizing power against the wishes of a growing number of Vietnamese. "Never before have specific groups and political cronies benefitted so profoundly from their cooperation [with the party]," he wrote. Plainclothes agents, he claims, have watched him ever since. "If I go anywhere, two of them follow me," he said in a hotel room in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's economic hub in the humid south of the country. It was too dangerous to meet at his office or home, Pham explained.

If USA wants to help Vietnam it will find a way, people are talking as if Tomahawks are the only weapons to circumvent the Chinese,USA has the most innovative conventional arms arsenal in the world.

What is so special about this missile
we can strike distant military targets in china.

Won't Happen, USA is not allowed to sell/ Transfer missiles with range more than 300KM, unless they can spin out Infentahawk from Tomahawak.
the US is the sole superpower. it dictates the rules of the game. who is going to stop them if they violate their own rules?

Aren't you buying Brahmos ? I thought that's better than Tomahawk
yes, Vietnam wants to acquire Brahmos. we expect a deal when India president visits Vietnam from Sept. 14 to 17.

Just sell the DH-10/CJ-10 to Cambodia and Laos.

Then sell the YJ-12 ASCM too.

China has a massive and wide ranging arsenal of cruise missiles from ASCM to LACM.

Here's the Chinese GLCM.

Meanwhile, delusional Viets on this forum will continue to daydream about Tomahawks they will never receive, launched from ships they don't have.
