هل ستكون المقاتلة الصينية JF-17 بلوك 3 المتطورة الضيف القادم لسلاح الجو المصري؟

Egypt has been pursuing the Sino-Pakistani fighter JF-17 for several years, hoping that the third block will satisfy the requirements and ambitions of the Egyptian Air Force, because if Egypt contracted for this fighter, it would be a joint manufacturing deal and would be a real nucleus for a national Egyptian fighter industry project, according to Egyptian defense expert Sameh.Al Jalad.

According to him, Egypt has already made its observation on the second block of the fighter and those observations have been fulfilled in the third block, the most important of which is the addition of the AESA radar, which is the most recent and newer than the radar on the MIG-29M fighter, as it is difficult to jam and has a greater range and does not require maintenance and does not have malfunctions, also the speed of the fighter was increased to Mach 2 and the armament weight increased to 6 tons, similar to the F-16 fighters.

The previous generation had the ability to carry weapons and ammunition of up to 4.5 tons only in the previous block and also the range of the fighter was increased by increasing the size of the fuel tank and adding the feature of refueling between fighters, as the Block 3 will allow the installation of shoulder fuel tanks on the sides as is the case in The F-16 Block 52 which will allow it to have a greater range, and the cockpit has been completely changed and various materials have been introduced into the Block 3 manufacturing to reduce its fingerprint on the radar screens.

The fighter is also equipped with an HMS system, so the pilot can track and lock the target without the need to use hand tools. Once the pilot only moves his head towards the target, the missile shuts off the target, and this allows the pilot to view targets around the cockpit to target them, and the third block has a Chinese engine called WS-13, which is a Chinese-made turbocharged engine that produces 22,000 pounds of power stronger than the MiG-29 engine. He was working on it earlier.

In addition, it will be equipped with the latest missiles in the Chinese and Pakistani arsenals of air-to-air missiles with a range of 200 - 300 km and cruise missiles with a range of up to 500 km. The fighter is also characterized by its low economic cost, as its maintenance does not reach 20% of the cost of the Rafale and 50% of the cost of the F-16 ...This fighter will be an alternative to the second-line fighters that have been out of service (MiG-21, Mirage 5, F4 Phantom and Chinese J7), as Egypt needs at least 100 fighters instead of those types that have been put out of service and there is no better than this project, especially as it will be a joint manufacturing and if Egypt is to contract the manufacture of the ammunition as well, it would be a serious project, that will allow Egypt to move 20 years forward in military industrialization , and then it would be easy for it to bring the Egyptian national fighter project to light, according to the expert.

Doubt it
Eygpt is probabaly going to stick to mig35 f16 and rafale
Jf17 was made to be light fighter to plug in numbers
Eygpt doesnt need it if its getting security assitance in form of f16 from USA with no real regional threats since arab world and isrealis are close allies and other countries like ethopia libya sudan etc have no airforce

You shouldn't doubt it.. just read the article thoroughly..

The F-16 "assistance" ended more a decade ago.. while Usreal is getting he F-35 as a US assistance..
According to the camp David deal.. but are still entitled to that military assistance.. but the US is playing games.. that is why you see Egypt buying the best Russian fighters and French Rafale..with most likely the Typhoon soon..

Egypt is not new to fighter development. Willi Messerschmitt of BF109 fame, designed Egypt's first lightweight supersonic interceptor, the Helwan HA 300 in the early 1960's. Engine was also developed in parallel. Six aircraft were built and flown, before fund shortages curtailed development.

It'll be interesting to uncover exactly what led to this program's demise. The Soviets delivered a lot of gear around this time, I'd like to know how much of that was on aid, and how much Egypt purchased.

India and Spain were actively involved in this project as the dimensions of this aircraft were similar to India’s first Indigenous fighter aircraft HAL HF-24 Marut, so an engine development meant for the Egyptian fighter would mean an engine for HF-24 Marut as well, sadly both HA-300 and HF-24 programs were stopped due to engine issues, Engine was the drawback in HF-24 which capped it to be a subsonic fighter instead of a supersonic fighter, difference was HA-300 never went to mass production and fly in Egyptian Airforce colours while HF-24 saw mass production and became combat proven in real war, and total 147 were manufactured. But engine issues stalled both HA-300 and HF-24 Program. I mentioned this because both programs were interlinked in powerplant development.

There was never any aid from the soviets.. they just offered the Migs at almost half the price of what would have cost Egypt to produce its own fighter.. and Egypt went for it..

Egypt has been buying a lot of medium to heavy weight fighters recently, but it does need something on the light-end that offer local manufacturing capabilities and do the heavy lifting that an airforce requires. They still need to add "bulk" to their air arm to replace the F7s/Mirages/etc..

The fact that Egypt operates the latest Mig29 derivatives is an advantage, as engine maintenance will be lot simpler for them as they have most of the infrastructure in place for the RD-33/93MA series.

Their current F16 fleet is a dead end fleet that is becoming obsolete unless the American'a agree to update them to the V standard and add the AMRAAM 120D's to them ...

The same applies to Iraq, who need to bulk up and add capability that is easy for them to maintain and support.

Russia went to the expense of developing the RD-93MA variant as it is forsees alot of sales to countries who do not want to maintain a twin engine jet.

Let's see. I think a lot of countries have been waiting for the JF17 Block III..

Not this again. The Egyptians have been saying this for decades now.

They want ToT for BVR and probably more. It won't happen.

its not only this jet but also missile and nukes program was rolled back too . west just pushed egyptions to take aid money and sit back . horrible mistake of egypt in 1970s . and then usa sale 220 f-16 without BVR missile even today .

If they have the Rafales then why are they going for the Typhoons? Have they got the meteor missile
with the Rafale yet?

Not moving forward with the HA-300 is very dumb. Egypt could probably have a good domestic 4th gen fighter jet by now.

It would have been outdated by now there is no room to transform a 3rd gen jet into a 4th gen jet.

They can get that from the South Africans, it isn't just about BVR you aren't looking at the bigger picture here.
