Not sure if it was staged, but Will Smith is certainly a beta with an open marriage, has no problem other men sleeping with Jada yet no innocuous jokes allowed.

It was a cheap shot by Chris Rock. Making fun of someone's voluntary behavior is OK, but mocking a medical condition is uncouth, especially if it's causing them physical/emotional pain.

Roasting is pretty much a tradition in Hollywood events and in contrast to the kind of jokes Ricky Gervais does, this joke was mild.

If this joke had been about a guy, suffering from the same disease, people would not bat an eye. Also, I could guarantee that if it was a white dude such as Ricky Gervais making the joke, there's no way that Will Smith would have even moved a muscle.

He didn't exactly make fun of her alopecia, rather the buzz cut resembling GI Jane. He probably didn't even realize she suffers from the condition.

It certainly wasn't a crude or uncouth joke. Will laughed it up for a few protracted seconds but when he saw Jada's reaction, he had a change of heart, being a beta/cuck and all.
