The Greek media are talking today about the complete replacement of Russian anti-aircraft and anti-missile systems of the Greek forces. Specifically they talk about replacing SA-10(S-300) with MIM-104(Patriot), SA-8(Osa) with Avenger and SA-15(Tor) with NASAMS.
Greek government has long publicly said that any replacement of existing equipment will be done one by one, immediately and without any delay.

Honestly, Tor is a good AD system, maybe you can replace the OSA with an upgraded Avenger and S-300 if it isn't modernized and old. Best thing to do is to have a mobile AD so you can move it quickly on islands on the greek mainland etc... To have a stationed AD systems have cons.

Unfortunately, we can no longer say that we can rely on technical support from Russia, because of the sanctions.

another more important question , will somebody finance the replacement ?
its not gonna be cheap

Greece TORs are Tor-m1 if not upgraded they are not that spectacular
Think they are already doing it.

Greece already operate MIM-104 Patriot (6 Batteries IIRC) and is planning to replace the remaining S-300 with Patriot, at this moment, half of the Patriot system operated in Greece are Greek, the other belong to US and Germany as NATO partner. But on the other hand, Greece being an peninsula and island nation, the main Anti-Air Defence should be focusing on the Navy. To which Greece Frigate and Corvette, of those, most are operating US (ESSM/SM-2) or MBDA Aster Missile

What Greece need to replace is short to medium range ground base missile in case their enemy punch thru the Naval Defence. Tor and Cortale have to go, probably replaced with NASAM or other similar European missile. Long Range Strategic Missile are either for Ballistic Missile defence or to support the Navy Sea-Air control.

Apt question, the answers are known only to the staffs of NATO, the USA and Greece.

its not like Tor or Crotale are inherently bad , Greece no longer can rely on Russia for upgrading and maintaining Tor so yes they must go but crotale have no such limitation and Greece personnel are familiar with it .if i were them i probably would have asked France to upgrade the system to the latest generation

Guys,we have the Tor-M1 and S-300PMU1 systems. The OSA-AKM are already useless.

The problem, like Akritas already mentioned,is that we can't get any technical support from the Russians now.

We also need to replace the I-HAWK PIP III.

The Crotale is still good. It's Crotale NG/GR and uses the VT-1 missile.

Yesterday,it was announced that a memorandum between Hellenic Weapons Systems (EAS) and Diehl was signed, about producing the IRIS-T SLS/SLM/SLX systems in Greece. I had heard that the Army wants to replace the Tor-M1 with IRIS-T SLM. Greece has been a partner in the IRIS-T missile program since the beginning (the original one,the air-to-air version).

If we buy it and co-produce the missiles and systems in Greece, that would mean we could be self-sufficient to a degree,in this system's missiles.

The Israelis also presented the Barak ΜΧ to our Armed Forces,a few days ago.

Thing is,if we buy new systems,we have to think of one with good anti-ballistic capabilities as well, now that Turkey started threatening us with ballistic missiles etc. The Patriot is a good, but we could add one more long or medium range dedicated to that. David's Sling with the Stunner missile is a good choice.

Give your OSA to Armenia. I'm sure they will appreciate it

@Akritas, my only interest in this weapons-based thread is to ask you to change the thread title, it seems as if Russia had acquired air defense systems from Greek defense forces and wants to replace the Greek ones with Western ones, LOL.

if it was me, send everything to Ukraine and ask for the US to upgrade it for you using the drawdown fund.

I would say it's still better than S-300 or TOR...
We should get 2-3 batteries of Patriot MSE.

But since we should also get IRIS-T SLM to replace the Tor-M1 and some other system. Iron Dome is pretty cool. We have to replace so many firing units! S-300PMU1,Tor-M1,OSA,HAWK...maybe even Skyguard? Is it even useful now, against all these UCAVs and loitering munitions?

So far our defence is this:
