Will live in a tent but won’t leave Islamabad sit-in: Imran

Lets see who will have the last laugh but we as a nation should be ashamed of ourselves why because even after so much has happened in this country, people are still defending the likes of Nawaz and Zardari. I mean how much more pathetic can it really get than this.

The surprising part is that those who consider themselves the educated intellect are ok with the system that we are living in, they are ok with rigged elections, they are ok with massive corruption, they are ok with family politics and with people getting appointed just because they happen to be a close relative and not on merit.

Imran may or may not come to power but he has laid the foundations for a revolution which this country is in dire need of.

70 days on and the PTI-support still hasn't managed to capture the essence of the stiff opposition it faces from the intelligentsia. You may have heard it before but the message has clearly not ringed home, so allow me to reiterate.

Anti-Azadi March does not mean pro-PML-N or pro-PPP.

I'd say go figure, but that would be to no end, so allow me to spell it out. My qualm with the Khan is not with his message, but with his method of execution. I am a staunch opponent of the Sharif family and would give my right foot to see them held accountable for the near-infinite wealth which they have amassed over the past 3 decades. As a matter of fact I eagerly jumped to the humiliation which Rehman Malik was subjected to while boarding the aircraft, because I too want to see an end to the VIP culture which has bled us dry.

But do not for a second assume that my reservations with the system can be transmuted into answering a call seeking the ouster of a federal government in the absence of corroborative evidence of electoral fraud. The problem with the Khan is that he wants to dish out the penalty before holding the trial, and therein lies my disagreement. The Khan claims to stand for justice and the rule of law, but in his puerile tantrum seeking the most powerful post in the government the Khan has forgotten the very basics of natural justice, the presumption of innocence; ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat - the burden of proof is on he who declares, not on he who denies.

As the events have come to pass it has become increasingly evident that the Khan's promise of earth-shattering revelations of evidence proving electoral fraud was nothing more than a political ploy which he hoped the nation would swallow hook, line and sinker, spurring them to rally in his support, resulting in political pressure so immense that the government would crumble before anybody could call the Khan's bluff out. Unfortunately for Mr. Khan, the bluff has not worked well for him and it has so transpired that the nation, or at least those of the nation who still remember how it all started, are still waiting for the promised proof. I actually already know almost all the counter-arguments which may rush to your fingertips, but before you type it out in a flurry of words, stop and ponder what I am pleading you to understand: That no man should be guilty of a crime until a neutral body has considered the case for and against him, and decreed that the evidence points to guilt beyond reasonable doubt. I too want to see change, but I shan't let it happen at the cost of injustice.

In addition to the foregoing, Khan's message has been diluted by, and blended with, a Canadian cleric's call for systemic revolution. As if Khan's method of execution itself wasn't questionable enough, the issue of a revolution brings the hammer down on any iota of support which I may have had for the Azadi March. Without rambling any further and before bidding adieu, let us all ask the Libyans how successful their revolution has been.

I respect your opinion however there are two things i would like to address in your post

1) you say no evidence is provided by Mr. Khan, yet there are countless evidences on rigging being found only to be covered one way or the other for example NA 68 which was covered under the pretext of a typing mistake. NA-125 re count which was happening under a session judge was stopped by Saad Rafique. The former additional sect Afzal Khan endorsed the same and so did the NADRA chairman who was sacked.

Lets say that Khan had no real evidence and all he did was to play bluff, than my question is why was the government so hesitant to open those 4 constituencies which Imran had asked from day 1? Wouldn't it be easier to shut Imran once and for all by opening those 4 constituencies and letting every one know that elections were free and fair? On the other hand government did everything in its power to make sure nothing happens on this front. The speaker of the house is hiding behind stay orders from the court.

Khan waited a year long, exhausting all other options before he went on to roads. He was saying this from day 1 that if he does not get justice and PTI concerns are not addressed, he will take it to the roads. This is not something which happened in 1 day and suddenly Imran decided to do a long march and Dharna, than my question is what has the government done to address the concerns of PTI? Answer is absolutely nothing in fact they did everything opposite.

2) About Khan message being deluded, Remember it was not Khan who joined TUQ as his march was announced much earlier than that of TUQ. What happened in model town isnt less either from Libya where people were shot in broad day light on the orders of a regime who hides behind the curtains of democracy. Khan supported TUQ on that because any man with a conscious would have done the same. I mean what kind of democracy are we living in where people are killed by their own police who is suppose to protect them. People properties are being destroyed by Gullu Butts and yet here we are opposing the methods of Imran? In any other country, had something similar happened, the PM would had resigned morally and gone home but no this is Pakistan and so yahan sub chalta ha.

We can all agree to disagree, rest assured i am way older than 23. I am sure you can see that i am member since 2007.

Idiot Khan has proven to be an extreme CHAWAL and GHATIYA. Who the hell is he to demand that 4 constituencies be opened.

Once the election tribunal has rejected the appeals, IT'S OVER. Stop whining.

It's unfortunate that we do not have a professional army otherwise these PTI hooligans would have been crushed under tanks like the Tienanmen Square in China.

Agreed.

I respect your opinion however there are two things i would like to address in your post

You say no evidence is provided by Mr.

What has been provided is, as you do very well know, evidence which can be considered highly controversial particularly the role Mr. Afzal Khan has played and, therefore, the need of the hour as I remarked in my previous post is for this evidence to be presented before a neutral body so that a workable decision may be taken thereupon. The Khan must move past the street politics and media trials which he so very much seems to enjoy and enter the realm of legal certainty, so that his dharna, if his claims of electoral fraud are true, can bear fruit.

Because the government is helmed by a dinosaur who loves to eat and play king. Simply put, the government does not care and will attempt to drag the issue on for as long as it can. Also on the same point, the government did agree to the Khan’s demands in the first few weeks after the dharna started, but that went nowhere because the Khan wouldn't budge and insisted that the dinosaur resign else he'd camp it out there with the cleric till kingdom come. I thought that was absolutely selfish of him. He had a chance to make right our electoral system and he squandered it for his own ego. Even the fiery cleric's flame has worn out after realizing the unfortunate mistakes they made in managing the protest, but the Khan remains defiant - still thinking he's winning. Well I really do hopee he emerges a better leader from this fiasco.

Let me see if I can pull out an old post I made on the status of the election petitions pending before the election tribunal.

Saying that the Khan went out onto the streets because he felt the system could not deliver him justice is only telling half of the story. The real reason Khan went out there to topple the government with the Canadian fascist was otherwise. Because let us not forget, as I stated above, the government agreed to opening the constituencies and holding mid-terms, when the dharnas were at their peak, should the electoral fraud be proven, but the Khan did not accept that. Why? Because that’s not what he came looking for and that’s also not what he was instructed to do.

About Khan message being deluded, Remember it was not Khan who joined TUQ as his march was announced much earlier than that of TUQ.

It is the perhaps the greatest tragedy of our time that we as a nation do not understand the administrative edifice upon which our country stands. As a nation we are disgruntled and worn out by our tumultuous political past which has done very little in turning around our fortunes and, therefore, we're trigger-happy in pinning almost any incident on what little we understand of democracy. The issue here is with the police and the legal justice system, of which I am an officer, and not with the democratic process as enshrined in the constitution of 1973. The Model Town incident calls for institutional reforms and justice by seeking out those who were responsible for perpetrating the heinous slaughter of those semi-innocents. It does not call for overthrowing the government. There are countries worse off than us and let us not throw away what little we have by following maniacs into a revolution. A revolution would only destroy whatever we have left, and trust me on that.

Let us move forward with the dinosaurs and not backwards with the container-duo. In time this country will iron out its failings which are not only the fault of our politicians but also of our army who dissolved our institutional capacity every time they came and ran this country with an iron grip before handing it back to the very non-functional institutions which they so mercilessly treaded upon and aptly help create.

We can all agree to disagree, rest assured i am way older than 23. I am sure you can see that i am member since 2007.

Glad to hear that. The children on this forum make me sick.

Will live in a tent but won’t leave Islamabad sit-in: Imran

GUJRAT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has said that he won’t leave the Islamabad sit-in venue even if he has to live there inside a tent.

While addressing his party’s rally in Gujrat on Friday, the PTI chairman reiterated his resolve to continue his sit-in in the federal capital till PM Nawaz Sharif stepped down.

“I will never end my sit-in,” he assured his supporters. “Even if there is a time when we don’t have funds to set up lights and music system; I will live in a tent alone. But will not leave the venue.”

The PTI leader said the nation had decided to resist oppressors, which is why they came in large numbers in his rallies in cities including Karachi, Lahore, Mianwali, and others.

“People have awoken. They have realised that the time for change is now,” he said. “Those who have seen me in cricket, they know I always fight till the end.”

The PTI chairman asked all Pakistanis to reach Islamabad on November 30.

“A sea of people will reach Islamabad on November 30,” he said. “Supporters prepare yourselves; it will be the largest crowd in history of Islamabad.”

The PTI chairman added that his party will hold rallies after Muharram.

Imran argued that PM Nawaz was not resigning as he had to receive kickbacks from billions of dollars worth of contracts he had signed.”

“He will not step down as will lose billions of rupees.”

Regarding resignations of PTI members from Parliament and provincial assemblies, he said they had on principle decided not to go back to fake and bogus assemblies.

“Who are you to not accept our resignations,” he said while referring to PM Nawaz. “We will not go back in Parliament, and will cancel the party membership of anyone who opposes our decision.”

Maulana Fazl’s comment deplorable

Imran condemned Thursday’s attack on Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Quetta, which killed at least one of his workers but added that his comment regarding women participants in his rally were deplorable.

“I did not like the way you talked about women who come to our sit-in,” he said. “We want our mothers and daughters to contribute in making a new Pakistan.”

He rejected Maulana’s claims of teaching his supporters western ideals, saying that they talk about Islam and Iqbal.

Thank you, Qadri

The PTI chairman in his address thanked Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri for staging a sit-in in Islamabad for over two months.

“I thank you Dr Qadri,” he said. “The way PAT workers resisted the Gullu Butts of Punjab Police on August 31 is commendable.”

He said PAT and PTI’s objectives were different, and that he will continue to protest till those who rigged 2013 general elections were held accountable.

Funds for PTI

The former cricketer also made an appeal for donations to the Pakistani nation, saying he will work for public as opposed to others who worked for investors and capitalists.

“I want money from you, the public. You will run my sit-in,” he said. “If I get the funds, the movement will spread throughout the country.”

Responding to former president Asif Zardari’s comments about PTI’s sources of income, he said, “I get the money not the way you got it,” he said. “This money is not from corruption or theft. It is a donation by the Pakistani nation.”

He didn't live in tent when 1000s were there. How could he miss comforts of Bani gala castle for more than few hours.

Now he wants to ditch the castle of Bani gala and live in tent.

Jhoot, fraud is all this.

Expect a UTurn soon.

Yeah, what you call "protests" is what in western democracies we call riots. Karachi can never become Tokyo under current Muhajir Bhatta Khors.

True dat. Bro. True dat.

Unfortunately what $hit was spread by Altaf bhai in Karachi

is the same $hit that is now being spread by IK in Pindi and Lahore.

They both are chutta butta of aik thaali.

You know I had high hopes of IK in 2013. He looked like a true national leader.

then this simpleton man-boy was dragged down by the likes of Sh Rasheed and Qureshi.

Now this poor guy is a pathetic version of Altaf+Chaudries of Gujrat+Sheikh rasheed of Pindi.

What a disaster.

Imran is better than the other lot put together.

When did he lie? Why he is doing this? He does not need none of this. He has got everything a man needs to have a respectful life. He is doing it for you. For your children. We will not be free. Never will be. If we keep prevaricating and be cynical like you.

Can you make a fraction of difference of what Tahir ul Qadri and Imran's sit-ins have done? If not, the give credit where its due.
If Imran goes away, what are you left with? Nawaz, Zardari and Altaf Hussain? Is this what you will trade Imran for?

This status quo politics has strangulated the country. There is not other option but to get of these rascals. Imran is not corrupt and neith corruptible. If we leave everything aside, this is enough for me to suport him and let him be my leader.

After all, when I can throw my country to the dogs by voting in Nawaz or Zardari, why cant I let one chance to Imran?

Also, international establishment is behind Nawaz and Zardari. They want these corrupt leaders to fluorish. This helps them keep a check on us, enslave us and use our country for their interests. This is the dilemma of third world. Its not free and never will be as along as west finds agents like Nawaz and Zardari who sell their country for their interests.

If international establishment was not behind Nawaz and Zardari, we would have been listening to nauseating lectures on freedom and democracy from west and in favor of Imran.

Well said, I couldn't have put it better myself. You are absolutely correct.

These geniuses who like to think they're smart for criticising PTI (or whatever they say to make themselves feel better) are a bigger danger to Pakistan than anything else. Even if we are to believe ALL of their absolute BS propaganda, Imran Khan is still better than anything Pakistan has seen for a long time. Give him a chance, his points and ideas are all absolutely correct. Just listen to one of his interviews and you'll see how much sense he makes.

If you are against the dharnay, blame King Nawaz Sharif who didn't allow FOUR BLOODY CONSTITUENCIES to be opened after PTI demanding it for 14 months. What would have happened? If there was no rigging, NS wouldn't lose anything. Yet PMLN constantly sidelined and blocked Imran Khan's perfectly reasonable demand.

Exactly, again, perfectly explained. If the West was behind IK, why were they making statements in favour of PMLN? Why did the US state department say that they wouldn't support Pakistan if any 'unconstitutional' changes are made? Why didn't they support the protesters, like they did in most of the Arab revolutions, Euromaidan, Egypt and Syria?
Even according to WikiLeaks' leaked US embassy cables, Imran Khan is the only Pakistani politician who is not influenced or controlled by the US.
The notable exception to that US influence, however, is the former cricketer Imran Khan, who delivered a long lecture to visiting US politicians about the iniquities of US policy.
Pakistan's president Asif Ali Zardari 'prepared for assassination' | World news | The Guardian
US embassy cables: Imran Khan criticises 'dangerous' US policy | World news | theguardian.com

As for those who say Army is behind this, well, if that's true, why did the army miss so many chances, they could've taken over easily during the container blockades, the violence in August, the Islamabad Clashes. Why didn't they? And would the army really put it's trust in Imran Khan's dharna if it wanted to take over Pakistan? There are countless easier and more effective ways it could've done that.

I can not imagine any reason an informed Pakistani who doesn't benefit from it would support Nawaz Sharif.

While at it, get Mullah TuQray TuQray as a Canadian MP where he is a citizen.

Why you all live in the West and send us your refuse, who come here and $hit and defacate out in the open.

Why don't you ask Mullah TuQray TuQray, and i i i i i i i i i i i Khan to set up "Cuntainers" in front of Queen's house and let PTIans and PATians like you to defecate openly in the grounds.

yeah. That will be Demon-cratic right of Mullah TuQray TuQray, and i i i i i i i i i i i Khan being practiced right under your nose.

yeah. That will be Demon-cratic right of Mullah TuQray TuQray, and i i i i i i i i i i i Khan being practiced right under your nose.

Yeah keep this kuchra in your own countries.

Thank you

Well said my bro

well said.

Wait, what? How is any of that even relevant to the points I made?

if you are that desperate, elect him even a mayor in UK if not PM, where your vote is and Imran khan's legal and illegal kids are
How will electing him as PM of UK solve Pakistan's problems? I am desperate for Pakistan, not the UK.

Why you all live in the West and send us your refuse, who come here and $hit and defacate out in the open.
I do not live in the west. I am here temporarily for certain reasons and will be back to Pakistan soon.

You just replied to a series of well written and reasonable points with a bunch of ad-hominem attacks and otherwise incoherent garbage.

Aisi jahilon wali baaton say mujh pe koi assar nahi ho ga. Me toh PTI ko aur passand karun ga kyun ke aap jaise log us ke khilaf koi sachi baat kar hi nahi saktay, iss tarah ke gannd se jawab dena parta hai.
Massla yeh hi Pakistan ko, aap jeise log bohot zyada hain. Log joh badshahat se khush hain. Log joh jahilon ki tarah baat ko samajhna nahi chahte. Log joh aik metro bus dekh ke baaki sabh bhool jate hain. Waise aap se yeh umeed nahi rakhi thi, aap zyada tarh achi baatein bhi kar lete hain.
