Will CPEC have a negative impact rich culture of Pakistan?

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a buzz-word in the region today. China finds it as a conduit to expand its tentacles, while Pakistan thinks that it can propel its fledgling economy. Amid the expectations and euphoria, have we ever thought as to how CPEC will affect Pakistan? Yes, it is a game changer; it would change the rules of play. It would change our identity. It wouldn’t only change our socio-economic condition, but its impact would be socio-cultural as well.

Pakistani media houses are running on a policy to copy the foreign content for gaining more viewership. The electronic media is an industry of a business of billion rupees.

Culture is a way of life of a society, its ideas, beliefs, language, values, knowledge, customs and the things it practices. The social institutions like family, religion, and school are considered as a practical field of a social life, and media is responsible for the preservation of this culture, but Pakistani media has failed to fulfill its role. Resultantly, its culture is prone to vandalism. Pakistani media houses are running on a policy to copy the foreign content for gaining more viewership. The electronic media is an industry of a business of billion rupees. They have nothing to do with the distraction of the society; their focus is always on making more and more money.

Pakistan is already an imperialized society
Pakistan is a multilingual and multi-cultural society of the unique ethics, values, norms, and beliefs which form a very charming and attractive national culture. But it has been imperialized by the Western, Indian and Arabic culture, which means that it is a practice of promoting the culture or language of one nation in another. The foreign media are also pursuing their own agendas. Unfortunately, Pakistani media houses also promote foreign culture more than that of Pakistan. Youth is more influenced by it and is adopting their ways which are actually unethical and against our religious values and morals. The culture of joint family system is slowly being replaced by nuclear family systems. Parents are being sent to old age homes. Due to media, the foreign cultures are slowly engulfing our society.

Imperialism is aided when a strong culture overshadows the weaker one. In cultural imperialism, language, a way of life and most importantly values of a strong culture are adopted by the weaker culture. But Pakistan does not have a weak culture, its media made it weaker by failing to promote it. So foreign media has gained an advantage and injected their unethical cultural values. The Pakistani society, especially elite class picked the American, European, and even Indian culture very quickly and even became a part of it. Our culture is being threatened. The new born generation even doesn’t know what actually our culture is.

The adaptation depends upon another factor, the level of interaction, which in the case of CPEC is going to increase. With the influx of Chinese in Pakistan, We would enter into a competition with our Chinese friends. We would start adopting their cultural pattern and way of life.

The spread of Chinese culture and language
The future cooperation between Chinese and Pakistani media will help to disseminate Chinese culture in Pakistan, for enhancing mutual understanding between the two traditions and two countries. But it will affect otherwise, it would have a socio-cultural spillover in Pakistan.

And this might lead to friction at social level due to atheistic and monotheistic views of Chinese and Pakistanis. Most probable would be limited Chinese influx and will remain segregated due to their different eating and practicing habits.

Stop day dreaming indian .
You indians seem to have got some kind of weird talent from God and every indian sound like a 'najoomii ' .. .

.
What is it with you and articles from the same authors crying about the same things

.
This is such utter bullshit, pakistani culture is so strictly and concretely entwined with islam here that its almost impossible to budge it even an inch and the best thing about it is that its not forced upon like in some other countries like saudia etc, its the will of the inhabitants of pakistan and believe me this way of life is a matter of life and death for the overwhelimg majority of pakistani's. This cultural influence thingy will happen but it will be the other way around if at all, china will see a lot of its people converting to islam just as it happened with europe and the Us when they allowed influx of imigrants from muslim nations, those tableeghi uncles will be chasing after the chinese and they wont find a place to hide lol:sarcastic:, we might see some tableeghi uncles with martial arts skills in the future like "ninja molvi- a different perspective into religion". Anyways on a serious note its a buisiness partner ship not a hot teenage marriage and even if it were( we make the others convert before marriage:enjoy:).

Going by CCP's effort in Xinjiang, they will not allow it.
Ughurs are a different matter altogether, chinese concern wth them is not religion but the ughurs decades old insurgency for separation which can now be exploited by israeli/indian backed groups like isis n ttp .Already 5000 ughurs are in syria fighting, who knws whose agenda they will run when they return back to china. Anyways i was just countering the usual indian BS about cultural invasion, u knw counter attacking...

Chinese are progressive people and their cultural habits adapt to modern ways.

Chinese would hardly convert to Islam which according to you seems pretty rigid.

.
Completely unrelated as islamic law allows marraige with people of the book but not athiests, pagans etc and the thread u directed me to is wrongly labelled, its just one story while the thread indicates a large number of people...

Nope CHinese community in Pakistan is well integrated in the Pakistani society they respect us and we respect them
There are roughly 10k Chinese(UIghyur and non UIghyurs) in Islamabad and Rawalpindi alone

.
Lets just take it as a buisiness partnership and strategic alliance, mods should start deleting these threads that promote false indian propoganda..

CPEC connects Pakistan with Xinjiang. It obvious people coming to Pakistan will mostly be from Xinjiang not from Shanghai or Beijing. And thus CCP will have deep apprehensions about them getting radicalized. Thus CCP will only send Hans to work in Pakistan and they will not risk loosing permits in China by converting to Islam; unless they want to live in Pakistan.
Most people involed in Pak-China trade are Uighyur there is a huge Uighyur community around China market in Rawalpindi

Au contraire love Chinese greet us with Asalam alaikum and say Allah hafiz :D

.
Say whatever you like, even today the Chinese workers working on CPEC projects have separate canteens from their Pakistani counterpart due to their eating habits(pork).

Well majority of Indians worship fire as ultimate purifier so obviously we will sound like one.

What the hell are you on about .

What if chinese and Pakistani have different culture and religion , just like we living with kalash tribes , we're enough peaceful to live with the Chinese , they're feel to eat and practice religion what they like .

It's not india where you've elements like RSS that forces you to not eat the meat of this and that animal .
