Will Adopt ‘Unbiased’ Approach To India’s Move For UN Ban On Jaish: China

China has said it will adopt an “unbiased” approach to back any Indian move for a United Nations ban on the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, months after blocking India’s demand for action against the Lashkar-e-Taiba at the world body.

On reports from India that New Delhi may seek Beijing’s support for a UN ban on the Jaish for the attack on the Pathankot airbase, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said “in dealing with counter terrorism issues, the Chinese side will continue to adopt a fact-based, objective and unbiased position and follow relevant resolutions and regulations of the UN Security Council”.

“The Chinese side strongly condemns attacks on diplomatic and consulate missions,” Mr Hong said in a written response to Press Trust of India about the attack on the Indian consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan which an Afghan police official has said was carried out by Pakistani military personnel.

“We believe and hope that relevant situation can be handled properly,” Mr Hong said.

He said China opposes all forms of terrorism, supports a central UN role in coordinating international counter-terror cooperation and actively participates in global counter-terrorism efforts.

Mr Hong’s remarks were significant in the backdrop of China blocking India’s move at the UN Sanctions Committee last year when New Delhi sought action against Pakistan for releasing jailed Lashkar operations commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

China wanted more evidence which officials say India subsequently discussed with Chinese officials.

Besides the Lakhvi case, China earlier had put a technical hold on India’s demand for UN Security Council action against Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin and Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed citing United Nations Security Council resolution 1267.

Pakistan has no objections if UN bans Jaish but we wont accept india lumping state with them like they did last time and failed.

And just like members have always told here, we dont hate every pakistanis, we hate terrorists emerging from pakistan. If pakistan can control them, you wont see india complaning anymore. We may be enemies, so is china, but lets keep that within borders.

It will be good if China sees this objectively.

Even they are suffering from terrorism and have lost lot of people to this jihadi madness.

This should not be about good or bad terrorism as our PM said. It is always humanity vs terrorism.

This 'Good' and 'Bad' terrorism has been pioneered by US and Pakistan since Afghan-Taliban-Soviet conflict in the 80s.

There is no good or bad terrorism. What is wrong is plain wrong. Whether it is shooting, rioting or killing.

China has also suffered madness of jihadi terrorism and knows what it is to lose people.

It will be very appreciable if even Pakistan takes the first step to come out of this CIA-created net of thinking which puts the region in perpetual conflict.

Now that talks are cancled after couple of days pakistan will say no adequate proof,and the terrorist wilo be released.

Good solid development.. If i am correct, 11 terrorists/financiers/planners names are being sent to UN for ban. All belong to JeM. IF we can convince China too on this with solid evidence, this will serve as a solid confidence building measure for India China relationship. China is also threatened by such terrorists especially since CPEC investments are in Kashmir.

When has groveling,begging and rolling on the ground delivered ? No doubt we need raise the issue in multilateral international fora but should not be handicapped by it. Unless chinese are not touched they would not care about. India needs to effectively put a counterweight proxy then we can do a quid-pro-quid. Forums like UN are nothing but which follows law of jungle where ppl with might run the show.

We need political will and planning to neutralize the enemy advantage. A seat at the high table like UN is got by capability to do more alone than keep saying we have potential.

Anyway, there is only one thing that matters, I.e. solid evidence/proof to back up your allegations. If you have that, then China or anyone else won't even have the option to block it.

when pakistani authorities have accepted that the terrorists were from pakistan what else do you expect from China. Had pakistan denied the charges as it did always, China would have happily backed it.
