Why World War III will be fought on the internet

North Korea served as an exercise and warning as to how a country could be removed from the Internet -- by US. No loss to North Korea. Just an example. Quietly, IT professionals around the world took note. Their countries could be our targets.

what do you of my post just above yours??

1. usa establishment depends on networked stock markets and stock markets... attack this, and usa becomes partially paralyzed.

2. usa military depends the highest on satellites which guide drones, bombers, cruise rockets, infantry etc... in any world war, usa satellites will be targetted in the initial phase.

actually wrong.....

1.) US stock market does not require internet. All financial information are backed up in 3 stand alone server that does not connect to internet instead a direct Point to Point connection to each other, some spectupate they also have another point that connect to white house, but nobody knows.

The only way to hack this back up server is onsite via physical hack, and with 3 entry point doing this simultaneously. Otherwise you will have 1 or 2 failsafe backup the other, Which is quite hard.

You can hack the System online if you want, but the last time i know they back up every 12 hours, so if you do, you will only wipe trade data within the last 12 hours. And that was about 10 years ago.

2.) Every US military equipment have 2 or multiple way to operate, destroyed the US satellite would not destroy that equipment on how they operate, do bear in mind the US did fought war before the age of internet, and the worse what you say will do is to send all of us (US, China, Russia, India etc) back to a pre 1960 battlefield. Well you cannot expect your own network and satellite will be safe and just you destroying the US satellite right?

Furthermore, there are 3000 or more US launch satellite current orbiting in the sky , you have to destroy enough to take away the total coverage for US to lose the use of satellite, just 10% left will be enough to keep the satallite network, so how you destroy 2700 setallite without US retailation is your business, or you really think the US will not stop you and just sit and watch how you destroy the sat one by one?... and also US would keep launching satellite so. The number would only go up

Then come down to the last point. Dont forget who actually invented the Internet and the.Internet protocol? Would you not think DOD not twited something in the Internet protocol we are currently using to protect them from using against the.US?

In 2009, an NSA unit took notice of a data breach affecting workers at the US Department of Defense. The department traced an IP address in Asia that functioned as the command center for the attack. By the end of their detective work, the Americans succeeded not only in tracing the attack's point of origin to China, but also in tapping intelligence information from other Chinese attacks -- including data that had been stolen from the United Nations. Afterwards, NSA workers in Fort Meade continued to read over their shoulders as the Chinese secretly collected further internal UN data. "NSA is able to tap into Chinese SIGINT collection," a report on the success in 2011 stated. SIGINT is short for signals intelligence.

...they finally succeed in infiltrating the computer of a high-ranking Chinese military official and accessing information regarding targets in the US government and in other governments around the world.

The NSA's job is to defend the Internet while at the same time exploiting its security holes. It is both cop and robber, consistent with the motto adhered to by spies everywhere: "Reveal their secrets, protect our own."
The lesson is clear and blunt: The US can either shut out or severely degrade any country's presence on the Internet and just for spite -- after we reveal every secrets that country have.

It's amazing how we just piggybacked the Chinese. We knew what they were stealing and then gained intel on how they do so. There was an article that came out around the time the NSA leaks occurred that said TAO had successfully infiltrated Chinese networks for 15 years. Interesting stuff indeed....

.
So it is american's flexing there muscles and Chinese doing what they do best......so what about Russians?

Am no IT person but i think u do not need internet when u want to disrupt enemy's system IRAN's nuke case is a good example.

We have no problem of being perceived as incompetent bumbling fools.

Well explained.

One thing that amaze me that USA is always accusing others for hacking or cyber warfare. But USA is the hyperpower in the areas of internet. Their companies rules the world. As US is not a real saint, we have to understand that to what level US is spying or hacking others network. No one even knows how USA is hacking into their networks.

The US were not accusing, but the US knew who was hacking...

Even many hacker forget, when you are trying to hack someone, that is the time you are the most vunlerable, becuase you have to open your port when you hack someone, then that someone can counter ir by hack you back.

If you look carefully, you will find all sort of story, Russian, Chinese, North Korean Government trying to hack US governmental level site, but you never hear story, apart from leak like snowden or wikileak, that US government is actively hacking anyone.

Its not like we never hack anyone and we played victim, but well, i cant exactly tell you, just that i can say, if we were giving an address, we can find all information there are in that adress, and we dont really need to hack....

That is the reason why you never even hear about US government hacking anyone...technically, we own the internet. That is all i can say ...
