Why the US should offer to buy France's submarines for Vietnam

Lol. That's one sneaky way to bankrupt Vietnam as well as letting the Chinese get their hands on the specs of the sub. Why not?

Such a stupid thread that gives the feeling as if the Vietnamese members here a stooping at a 'bottom of the barrel' level by being simps and cucks for the US instead of playing off both sides.

I still remember when Vietnam can't even pay to held the Asian Games, and need Indonesia to replace them as a host. So yes, give those mighty subs to Vietnam. Not only that, sell them US F-16, F-15, Rafale, etc. And let we see, if Vietnam can still do anything else with their budget. Those resource hungry war machines are good to give Vietnam their worst logistical nightmare.

vn's tiny defence budget can't even match the budget of one university here, which means every university here should operate its own nuclear subs... Mr.viet the big big joke here...

Lol, Mr Viet, You have clearly lost yourself, your priority is to win the war against delta in your biggest city.
Na … you took my post out of context. I said “if we show weakness, then”. The key word is “if”.
About virus, the infection has stagnated and begins to decline. I am hopeful.
I have to go to work.

Read again. My response was for a poster, joke or not, who claimed we can defeat chinese navy with AK.
we have no chance against China in any scenario at seas, even with 12 submarines. The gap is simply too big.
We are good on land battles in infantry.
At seas our chance 50:50 at best scenario.
Just a honest assessment
As consequence I am in favor that Vietnam enters a military alliance.

Credit to the author for the audacious attempt. I respect the creativity.

India buying this order makes more sense, than a 3rated country asking tio be given as AID

Firstly French subs meant for Australia has a humongous price tag for very obvious reasons. They were getting access to sensitive technologies which is not a privilege for any other country even Indian. Indian submarines lack key technologies which are present in French subs. Secondly French will never sell Military tech to communist countries. Despite all the support of west toward Vietnam there is limit.
and i thought we are only beggars in asia . here we have legends

Not a chance French omitted various sensitive technologies when they agreed to sell their subs to India. If you compare Indian scorpene and Assie scorpenes there is a humongous technological gap. There is a reason it came with such a huge price tag.

The United States would achieve three objectives by purchasing a number of Shortfin Barracuda submarines from France and then giving them to Vietnam.

The French will be JUST FINE in a few weeks. They want cheese, the US will provide them with little they need. Everyone will be happy again. Cheese runs the world!

And just for everyone's education, Australians were looking to get out of that contract for a year now. It's time the French revise their holiday schedule. A nation's national security priority (8 subs) was being delayed for years because the entire company in France takes a month off in Summer. It sounds great, but it stops critical projects and it takes additional weeks to just remember where you left off. I've personally dealt with the French "one month off" situation and associated project delays at all scales many years ago. So no one "betrayed" the French. The buyer simply asked the other suppliers that they were tired of cost overruns and project delays.
