Avoid personal insults please.
Both sides.
We are talking about Yew's pragmatism that led to Singapore's evolution as a global economic powerhouse.
He knew that Nehruvian socialism will be a failure and had the long term vision to prove it. He knew what was exactly needed in order to sustain and develop a resource-less country.
Which is rightly so. India realized that nehruvian socialism was a failure only in 1990 when our economy was about to collapse and we were cash-strapped; not to mention our biggest ally and financial backer was being torn into pieces due to internal strife.
Sadly, our PMs who had the authority like how Lee had, used it to accumulate wealth, divide the country and use it for their own personal selfish gains. Lee was smart to eliminate certain parts of a democracy which is what led Singapore into a glorious era.
While India to this date continues to worship a system rather than look for the final output.
We you can certainly admire him, but what do you mean that the whole world abandoned you ? Singapore exist because the world did not abandon you. You are just a city state and anyone can conquer you if the world din't care.
On a separate note, Lee Kwan Yew's shallow understanding of India surprises me. I though he had more depth.
Singapore will not be conquered because there are no resources there for anyone.
Why are you belching fire against him?
He's not saying anything wrong.
Lee was smart to gauge what was flawed in the socialist secularist model taht India was following.
Please remember, that we are talking about a leader, THE ONLY leader who brought a third world dump into the world's 3rd richest country today while in India we have 'freedom' to shit and piss on the roads, abuse and do rioting, listen to garbage media and form opinions, whine and shout with candle-light marches across metro cities, but can't afford a tenth the quality of life that Singaporeans enjoy.
BTW the Indian political system is the reason why 50,000 sq Km of our land in J&K is under foreign rule.
Had a country of India's size, resources and capacity followed Singapore model of governance, we would have been a superpower today.
