There is and will always be a need for people who memorise Quran, it has happened to Muslim societies where their history, Quran and everything Islam was snatched from them and destroyed. It is a service to society if there ever arises a need for it.
At some point of time 20 marks were given to students across the board who would participate in NCC program.
And it is not as if universities and medical colleges in Pakistan are strictly adhering to merit based admissions, especially when whole of the education system itself needs to be revamped and modernized.
However, what can be done is test these Hifaz e Quran at time of admission for their ability to remember Quran, as far as I know, memorising Quran and then remembering the same are not a one time activity, it is a never ending process.
Stop making issues out of non issues and this shouldn't be an opportunity to vent out against Mullahs and all the other ills which may not be there because of this.
