why not we free provinces of Pakistan?

before yesterday i was at presentational day party at US consulate and have notice they rise every state flag along with US flag . i have noticed they give freedom to states for make LAWs collect taxes and do whatever to there state.

why not simply we do it in pakistan ? state gov should have only power for defense - economy - and foreign policy other every thing we should left on provinces ?

why our provinces blame each other for not developed ?
why we have national grid ? why not each province generate own power and give it to people. if thye have load shedding they blame themselves ?
why not we have freedom to marge a state to another or make new state ?
why some of the cities in Pakistan have more budget then many districts even provinces?

is this ok for long term to keep as it is or we really need changes ?

the are already given freedom within the fedration but more departments should be handed over to them like kpk gov has been demanding control of peshawar electric supply company but its been denied by center

provinces can make laws even in pakistan same goes with taxes

Not fully know about Pakistan's federal system but in Indian union

• Every state have right to make law until they not overlap with union law
• Law & order is state subject
• Except mining & some other all economic activities managed & taxed by state
• Every state have their own power management (electricity production, distribution etc) & connected to regional & national grid thus they can take electricity from them in shortage or sell in excess, some state or UT does not have own power production they purchase through national grid
• Union have to say only in defence, Foreign policy, mineral ( in which states got their share).

Thats actually how it should be in a Federal democracy and Pakistan is a federal democracy.

When it comes to law though, theory and practice are almost always separate things in Pakistan.

The country needs devolution. Need to make more states. Province concept must be removed.

Small manageable states which should have neutral names.

Main Reason : While US is a homogenous country in respect of culture and languages, but developing countries like India and Pakistan have several cultures and languages , if states gets freedom like USA , there are chances of divergence or even secession.

It may lead to confrontation between states or between state and centre that's we have Strong centre.

First of all, After 18th amendment all provinces are responsible for managing their own affairs except national level affairs. So, Usual evil Punjabi card is obsolete. Next step should be breaking existing taxation into federal and provincial i.e. indirect taxes like GST/ED/Surcharges etc. should be collected by provinces where goods/services are sold instead federation collecting these taxes and than distributing.

you brought a real good issue.. This was the very idea of the creating Pakistan. This was mentioned in the Lahore resolution. If our elders have acted as per the spirit of Lahore Resolution, Bangladesh wouldn't exist today... & this is real democracy.. devolution of power to the bottom..
