Why It's Impossible to Sink This $13 Billion Ship

That is the same thing said for Titanic.

Maybe a bit of Kraftwerk or Rock Me Amadeus by Falco. And yeh I know they are Austrian. Hell the thought just passed my mind that I was exposed to lot of German singers ~ even they did sing in English.

you dont need high tech to sink it... just a skilled crew and the right equipment..

The 'right equipment' will have to be that 'high tech'. Do you really think the German U-boat in your youtube video is comparable to the U-boat of WW II era ? :enjoy:

While the top speed of US nuclear aircraft carriers are top secret, public guesstimates are 35-40 kts. In other words, the carrier can literally outrun its escorts. There is no way any sub can chase an American nuclear aircraft carrier without giving itself away.

A submarine is considered to be an 'ambush predator'...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambush_predator

An 'ambush predator' is a predator that lies in wait, meaning the sub must be in position AHEAD of the prey's path in order to prepare itself for the kill. In order for the sub to position itself in the most advantageous position, it must somehow have excellent intelligence on where the carrier fleet is GOING TO BE. We do not know the conditions of that exercise. The video is too short and whoever authored it can put in anything he want.

This...

...Is not a combat array. It is a public relations ( PR ) photography formation.

In order to know how a US aircraft carrier fleet array itself in combat, we must go satellite. So here is the next best representation...

See that circle ? Any sub that tries to move within that circle WILL die. I will leave it up to you to figure out the square km area of that circle because I do not want to be accused of putting misleading figures. But I think we can assume that area to be thousands of square km, no ?

In your youtube video, was that engagement in deep waters, as in deeper than three times the sub's length ?

https://usnwc2.usnwc.edu/getattachm...RIGHT-SUBMARINE-FOR-LURKING-IN-THE-LITTO.aspx
High maneuverability is also critical in shallow and confined waters. All submarines sailing at less than 165 feet need to have excellent depth control.11 There a submarine can maneuver in a water column of only two to three ship lengths.12 At periscope depth, it has to operate around a keel depth of 50 to 65 feet, depending on the sea state and periscope and mast extension.
Note the highlighted. But I will sum it up for you: In order to maneuver rapidly and safely, a submarine should have depth three times its length below it.

Diesel/battery subs rarely venture outside that zone because that would be deep waters, aka 'blue water' navy territory.

An American aircraft carrier conducts its flight operations outside of where diesel/battery subs operates and where it is protected by its own nuclear sub escort.

In theory, any ship can be sunk. Even the Titanic. But the Enterprise-class carrier are neither constructed like the Titanic nor does it sail alone. :enjoy:

What part did you not understand? U29 entered the circle in (REAL WORLD MANEUVER) you belive everything get killed UNDETECTED made a simulated attack run on the Enterprise and took a picture through the scope from close range... there exist not such thing that everything gets detected/killed in that circle...

I never claimed that they did it with a ww2 sub... and never claimed that they entered the circle in a hunt... sure they waited for them...as a enemy in real world would do...

Fact is that U-29 passed all carrier protection UNDETECT and could run a KILL attack (simulated)

US carrier are good for third world fighting or show of force... against a nation with nuclear weapons they just need to throw a small tactical atomic bomb into the near of the carrier and it is finished they did not even have to hit it directly... Or they just need to overtax the defence cabaility with waves of cheap cruise missels covering the real heavy cruise missels delivering the deadly punsh..

The German war film - Das Boot has to be one of the greatest submarine warfare movie ever made. Stunning exposition of the lives of men living in a metal can. The fear, the bravery, the suspense is awesome.
Not only the greatest sub movie but i term it the greatest naval warfare movie ever made, have u watched the longer 6 hours version?

I agree. Direction was flawless but actors like Jurgen Prochnow gave the movie the grit.

Wow. I did not know this. Singer. German. To me means only one thing. There was a time I dressed, had hair style like Thomas Anders.

All these years later Modern Talking still brings back joys of youth. Few years ago I went to live concert in UK. I still try to keep the same style but age is b*tch. But a bit dye to hide the grey and flick of hair still can give lick of the past "Thomas Anders" look.

LMAO

nuclear subs .... get the point?
They are loud produce lot of heat and are easy to detect

Germany runs subs on fuel cell hydrogen power... vibriation free, noise free, heat free and the only polution they produce is water... try to detect water in water
Ensuring dominance over potential adversaries is a commitment Pentagon is unlikely to overlook and a number of American companies continue to work towards this end.

No submarine is silent to the extent that it will escape detection for like ever as new kinds of countermeasures emerge and tactics evolve. Few understand that human activity inside a submarine contribute to its noise-levels and there are methods to detect a submarine in this spectrum.

On top, US doesn't have shortage in resources (and R&D sector) to figure out a solution for any problem in the long-term. Experiences are also a great teacher; with seven fleets operating across the world, USN is never short on experiences and likely to adapt to emerging threats (even theoretical).

Few get the memo that you cannot overcome US in an arms race (very expensive) and in experiences unless you become a greater power and experiment more. USSR learned this lesson the hard way.

What happened to that other unsinkable ship again?

They realy had luck to find the right actors for this movie...which in my eyes completely lives from the perfromance of the actors.. did you know that one of the actors is a pretty famous singer (in the german speaking world) Grönemeyer played the propaganda officer in the movie..

he was this guy in the movie

sorry to say that aber the times have long passed were armies fought one battle with a winner at the end of the day.... today enemys (the time that real Armys fight real Armys seems to be over). Today conflicts are very very long and it is sometimes hard to claim a winner at the end...
Afghan won the war against sovjet...but did they realy won...they just run into the next war ...which lead to the next war and today the nation is completely destroyed with no real future.
Israel won many wars ... but their "enemys" are still there so at the end they have won nothing
USA invaded Iraq but never reached peace

Every try to slove a problem with weapons today opens just a can with even more and even worse problems
This is because the real purpose of this war was not to bring stability but to create chaos ... The chaos created by first world war in missle east ... First of all an arbitrary division of middle east so that they keep on fighting each other and keep on buying the weapons from US ...

Now I know how to annoy Germans. Play "Modern Talking " hahaha. And just to dig it in even more how about "Nena" and 99 Balloons. Playing on TOTP.

Dragged here by "wealth". Honest. Don't tell anybody. Our secret. Okay?
Should be sung in German, much cooler, and without the disneyfied text to fit small children.

Nuke will not reach near this bad a$$ monster..

A powerful hydrogen bomb 100 meters deep.. 200 kms away may create a tsunami of such a caliber that may engulf it with all its surrounding ships..
