Why is the southern part of South Asia more developed than the northern part of South Asia

I think there are more historical factors Involved Why is it that a state like Kerala has an HDI similar to that of a developed country and the entire belt from Bangladesh til UP are worst in whole of subcontinent.
PS:Kerala was never part of British Empire but Bengal & Bihar where first to fall under British rule.
This is one of the reasons for the underdevelopment of eastern India. But what about Pakistan and Rajasthan?
Rajasthan and parts of Pakistan were ruled by princely states and were not for a long time under British rule
but Pakistan and Rajasthan are still less developed than southern India.

Again you are dragging Pakistan in, Pakistan per capita soon will be $1600 and GDP over $300 billion.

Compare Pakistan side Punjab with Indian Punjab Or there Sindh with respect to our Gujarat. Pakistan has socio economic flaws like there feudal which is causing problem.

Pakistan have higher per capita then whole India, don't come up with BS figures. Pakistan GDP will soon cross $300 billion by this june, which mean per capita of $1600.

Only North Punjab is developed in Pakistan, rest of the Pakistani regions like South Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA lives in extreme poverty. Although I believe @Nuri Natt will deny this.

Don't be a smartass mate.
India had the chance to start its development in 1947 just like Pakistan.
BD did not get the chance till 1971.
You had an EXTRA 24 years of independence but have little to show for it.
Even now your politicians are willing to ruin the Indian economy just to win votes. BD politicians may not be great but they don't run up massive fiscal deficits for votes.
What were U guys doing those 24 years? Sleeping to be born?
Get real and stop your stories......

someone take a trip of india at night on plane.. Punjab is all lit up while these will darker places unless you reach big cities like delhi. and I have experienced this myself sitting on plane..
india at night from space... Punjab is all lit .. like a big city..rest is dark or lit up where there is city

Punjab is unique in its own way...in some says, its better than whole India. All thanks to its agriculture industry...but can't deny the fact its falling behind many other states. Even haryana is doing better then punjab thanks to its govt and its "special" location.

Yep, one of the main reasons for the underdevelopment of Pakistan is that there are a lot of tribal communities who
are not really interested in hard work or education on the other hand there is only a small number of tribal communities
in Gujarat and the people of Gujarat are well known for their hard work and their desire for education.

South Indians are more intelligent but that's just me personal experience with South Indians.

Intelligence is not the property of certain people mate ..... it depends on the culture ...... In South India every house hold gives importance to education, people invest in education as if they are investing in a property or business.

Kids also work hard.

Why the **** will you combine them? Also Sri Lanka is way way ahead of South India. And South India at best is comparable to Punjab. 3rd rate central african like states UP and Bihar in North doesn't mean every Northern South Asian area is not developed.

Srilanka is nowhere close to South India.

Afghanistan is war torn country, unfair to compare. While BD has 2x gdp per capita then UP.

UP guys run India.

BD is not even the little toe of BD.

You put UP guys in Assam, then no BD pole vaulter ll dare to cross.

ya but the reality is different,.

UP has a per capita GDP under $600 while Bangladesh has a per capita GDP of $1044. Please get your facts right, before you open your mouth.

Big difference,so what?

Well, southern India was lucky that it was only for a short period of time under Turkic rule and some parts of southern India and Sri Lanka were never under Turkic rule. Afghanistan and Pakistan were for a long time under Turkic rule and the Turkic
rulers completely destroyed these regions. The radicalism in Afghanistan and Pakistan has a lot to do with the Turkic rule in the past.
