India is not on it.
The first challenge to economic success is the combination of geography and population.
India and China have together nearly half the world's population.
They thus face the biggest challenge. That they even still exist as entities after so many centuries ( a couple millennia even ) is a success marker, not one of failure.

What comes next is a coupling of system and power. Of the nations that have long running governance, those that projected their power have gained the most on average, with those that consolidated the gains over time doing the best.

Isolation from trouble comes next. The USA may not be so powerful if they did not have the two biggest oceans protecting them and had been forced to have wars fought on their soil. What I termed Geo-political Island-Nations in past works ( USA- Japan or UK for example ) combine a political power base with a geographic exclusion principle. They can fight for gain without the fight reaching them in return which over time makes their perspective of the world quite isolationist.
This allows leeway in treating problems whereas more imbricated lands ( both physically and relation-wise ) have to contend with sparing and sparring.

Last then comes a given system. In that respect, very centralized China ( not the CPC of today only but the historical strong central power since the first dynasties ) has an advantage over much more multicultural India. In the first, differences are erased for the common good favoring economic progress while in the second, differences being allowed to co-exist impede common good in the economic sense.

Last but maybe not least :
India ranks above Pakistan ( no disrespect intended, you asked Aalam1, I'm merely answering ) in all GDP-PPP lists so that honestly, your question may well be biased if not moot to begin with?

I hope this answers your query at least partially?

Good day all, Tay.

Answers for the questions:

1.Over population is not an issue as countries like South Korea , Belgium Netherlands etc have more population density.
2. Supporting the poor is much better than in ur country with subsidies to the essentials needed to live within is incomparable with any other country in the world.
3. Muslims are prioritized in jobs and education sector in the name of reservations in national and state levels.
4. We behave same for all be AR Rahman , Abdul Kalam , Mohd shami but behave indifferently for people with agenda and has got KABOOM in their head instead of grey matter.
5. If thats the case countries like Yemen and Somalia would have been on top, right?
6. We are spending only a part of what we earn and we spend more on social sectors , much more on other sectors than in defence.
7.We are spending money on both, statistics can be provided if requested.
Spark my dear man why are you bothering to reply to such an obvious troll thread?

why is india so poor?
1- over population

2- no support for poor

3- muslims are not getting their rights

4- indians don't behave eqally with muslims

5- muslims are wiser than hindus.. and they are not getting chances to show their talent

6- indians are planning to attack pakistan and hence wasting all money in weapons

7- wasting money in space research for nothing.. rather they should make toilets

any other reasons are welcome

Muslims had been given ample opportunities to show their talents in our neighborhood, they ended up being poorer.

I understand exactly why you started this thread but perhaps some education will help anyway:

Quite clealry explains why India (and China to a large degree) are poverty stricken right now BUT that they will return to their historic postions of being the global economic powerhouses.
