Why is India scared of Arab?

 I thought the same thing when I first saw this thread.

I agree, life would be a bit easier if they switched to western numbers, but then at the same time much of modern maths finds it's home in this part of the world. Why get rid of tradition? I don't think it hinders anything.
Change is the only constant.

As much as people would like keep their tradition, eventually convenience and practicality will win. If the devaluation of Indian currency continues at the same pace, then this will happen sooner than later. :undecided:

Trillion is very commonly used here in North America.

This is discussion about Crores and Arabs. In South Asia.
Let's leave the Trillions for the rest of the world.

India is busy renaming each and every thing in the country, to adopt local terms and names.

Crores and Arabs are very much local terms, so what's the phobia? lol

the real question is why dont india and pakistan use regular numbers like the rest of humanity?

WTF is a crore ?lakh? and now arab kharab???

whats wrong with thousand,million,billion,trillion?

extremely simple, and easy to understand by everyone. i doubt many people out of south east asia would know off the top of their head what a crore or lakh is without looking it up...

There are many things indigenous to every region. it doesn't mean you discard everything. But, on principle I agree with you.

But, this discussion is not about that. So, it's not right to divert.
India is busy renaming everything and getting rid of any name that has Muslim or foreign origin, as much as they can.

Why are they afraid of using the term Arab? it is a local term, it just happens to sound same as historical people who ruled the region of India/South Asia.

Indians do have some weird ways and inventions....like using the alphabet ''D'' where every one else would use the letter ''R''.

It's pretty rare to use trillion mainly because such numbers have shock and awe value in headlines but in day-day use who uses them?
You are a funny man.
Everyone uses them when the appropriate number is required, everyone.
Writing 100 Arabs is a lot easier then writing 10,000 Crores. The term Arab was developed for a reason and makes a lot of sense.
Why do you guys have a phobia?
Interesting. The use of lakhs and crores in Pakistan perhaps then is indicative of the thousands of years of Indian rule over that region and they cherish and remember fondly such times.

What kind of fantasies are you stuck in?

India is 74 years old, what rule are you referring to?
What an ignorant thing to say.

Because we will set the standards and world will follow them not the other way around. The power of population? Yes!

Just checked Wikipedia for this topic. Seems like Arab and Kharab are terms only used for Hindi. Regional languages in India have completely different terms after lakh and crore. Perhaps this is the reason why Indian media does not use Arab and Kharab - as it is only understood by the Hindi population. It could create a language problem

Yup, only Pakistanis have the right to thrash Indians wouldn't allow any Tom, Dick, or Harry to make a mockery of them. Only we are entitled to this. :)

Even the word 'rupee' having Sanskrit origin is indicative of that according to the OP's mind boggling logic. Also, according to him Arabs ruling over Pakistan is equivalent to them ruling over India. After a certain point, you don't even feel like correcting these folks.

They have been ruled over 2400 years right from Achaemenids to British as early as 535BC to 1947
Achaemenid conquest of the Indus Valley
Their culture seems revolve around servitude and invader worship

The current thread is an example of such sycophancy to find opportunities to pay respects to their historical overlords even in the most unusual ways

Arab is used in Hindi but not very often given its a vast number
Title of this video for example -

When did Arab rule anywhere in any part of SC outside of Mo Qasim just for couple of years?

Lol. If India is only 74 years old then what "thousands of years of Islamic rule" were you referring to earlier?

That reasoning doesn't make sense, because Hindi is already India's official language and a scheduled language. Hindi terms have become prevalent across India, and it is increasingly being taught in more schools, because it is being pushed by the state..

Plus, if they can understand foreign English terms, understanding Arab isn't so difficult, since it is part of local languages and a local heritage, it's hardy an alien term.

What are you talking about, you ignorant fool.
You made no sense, I sensed an offensive attempt at revisionist history, but it made no sense.
What are you saying?

Why are you people so ignorant?
Stuck in your fantasies.
Why?

There is a difference between India the region, and India the country.
You cannot claim the history, just because you have the same name, that's idiotic.

You guys are so confused, it's pathetic, no wonder you are busy killing each other, get out of your fantasies and join the real world.
And, stop spreading lies.

I never said that. The OP seems to imply that indirectly in one of his posts🤷‍♂️.
Frankly, I never knew there was any form a number called Arab, for me the term sounds weird.
