ByteDance invested billions of dollars in India. It bought equipment, trained local workers and engineers to know how to run and maintain the business. Spent huge amount of money on advertisement. Finally ByteDance created a new but mature, booming business in India and was about to make money. The ban came. All the money and work vaporized. Vaporized for ByteDance, but not for India. Because the whole business created by ByteDance, equipment, workers, millions users, were delivered to Indian companies. Actually ByteDance was robbed by India.
Some said the Chinese apps ban was caused by China-India tension. No. This is premeditated robbery. Indian government just used this perfect timing to commit it. Otherwise Indian government would be facing pressure from both inside and outside.
Banning Chinese apps is just first step. Because for apps, once the markets have been explored, it's easy to take over. India has not banned other Chinese products because so far their domestic suppliers are far behind. I believe in the future if there is an Indian domestic phone brand that is similarly competitive to Xiaomi Vivo or other Chinese brands, Indian government would immediately kick the Chinese phones out.
This kind of taking advantage from others perfectly matches Indians way of thinking. Everyone who has experience doing business with Indians is familiar to that.
Americans should not laugh now. American apps will not be 100% safe in India.
