Why India rejected Mi-28 attack helicopter? The Reason

So India backstabs Russia and support USA instead! This is the first time since the start of the Cold War (India was on the side of the Soviet Union). Oh Russia is going to be angry now.

:disagree: .... Where were you when Mig 35 was out of competition ....

Interesting, this article seems to have been written by an ignorant fool. The piece completely glazes over the fact that the Apache is by FAR the more complete package and easily the most advanced attack helicopter on the planet. The fact the Apache's turret is more accurate is so irrelevant and tedious it is beyond a joke. If the writer knew anything about military hardware he would not have focused on something as irrelevant as the accuracy of the turret but the ENTIRE weapons package such as the Hellfire and Longbow radar and the avionics of the Apache that leave everything else far behind.

Ridiculous level of reporting. I'm sick of it, these people are professional defence journalists- act like it.

But at least India didn't choose a US contender.... now India has squarely jumped into USA camp and stabbed Russia in the back. Vladimir Putin must be very angry now.

Like every Indian diplomat has been clear to express- these deals have 0 political interference and selections are based on technical grouse purely. India now has VERY stringent anti-corruption laws that would mean any selection not made on technical grounds would face serious scrutiny and consequences.

Is it a coincidence the C-17,P-8I,Apache are the best in their respective fields? They just happen to be made in US. if SH had been selected for MMRCA then maybe we would have reason to be suspicious. Everyone has fair chance in Indian defence market, kf they offer the best they get the $$$.

Let me quote myself here:

Ehm...

- 250 x FGFA ordered
- 45 x MRTA ordered
- 2 x more A50 AWACS ordered
- 42 x more Su 30 MKIs ordered
- 45 x Mig 29K ordered
- 80 + 59 x Mi 17 ordered
- 6 x IL 78 MKI under evaluation
- 197 x Ka 226 under evaluation
- 15 x Mi 26 under evaluation
- 22 x Mi 28 under evaluation
- Be 200 amphibious aircraft under evaluation from IAF/IN/ICG, Ka ASW and LUH helicopters possibly for IN, new UCAV and helicopter co-developments on offer

...yes, GoI/MoD really seems to have enough of Russian aircrafts.

Putin must be really angry about hardly $10 billions we pay to the US for C130J, C17, P8I and Apaches, when FGFA alone brings them $30 billions, not to mention that only with our funding developments like Pak Fa, MRTA, or even Mig 29K for Russian forces are possible. :disagree:

Apache won because it the best and the deadliest attack helicopter at present in the world. If you don't believe watch the video

after 1 another failing this will made Russia more anger on India
Russia must to add us into its arms export list

Of course they MUST.
Why not send them a RFI, RFQ and all the related tender documents; not to forget the check. They will take all that seriously.

AH-64D Apache Longbow (MKI)

The radar-equipped AH-64D Apache Longbow features numerous enhanced capabilities, including:

Longer-range weapons accuracy and all-weather/night fighting
Detection of objects (moving or stationary) without being detected
Classification and threat-prioritization of up to 128 targets in less than a minute
Integrated sensors, networking, and digital communications for situational awareness, management of the combat arena in real time, and digital transmission of images and target locations to joint operations battlefield commanders
The AH-64 Apache has been developed since its inception using incremental technology insertions at regular intervals to ensure that the world's most capable multi-role combat helicopter meets the needs of the warfighter today and in the future

• 50 T700-GE-701D engines.
• 23 “Arrowhead” Modernized TADS/PVNS sensor & targeting turrets
• 12 AN/APG-78 Fire Control Radars. Used in the AH-64’s “top hat” above the rotors.
• 12 AN/APR-48A Radar Frequency Interferometers. Actually a defensive system; detects and classifies enemy radar emissions. Of course, that information can be used to attack those air defense systems.
• 812 AGM-114L-3 Hellfire Longbow missiles. These use APG-78’s millimeter-wave radar guidance.
• 542 AGM-114R-3 Hellfire II missiles. The new “Romeo” missiles use semi-active laser guidance, and carry a triple-threat warhead that can deal armor-destroying, blast, and fragmentation effects.
• 245 FIM-92 Stinger Block I-92H missiles. A variant of the shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile for use on helicopters.
• Rockets (presumably 70mm), training and dummy missiles, 30mm ammunition for the Mk44 chain gun.
• Transponders, simulators, GPS/inertial navigation systems, communication equipment, spare and repair parts; tools and test equipment, support equipment, repair and return support, personnel training and training equipment; publications and technical documentation, and other forms of U.S. Government and contractor support.

Well, Apache beats Mi-28 hands down...........even Putin knows this.

I dont think Russians will be surprised by the outcome of this deal, they were just trying their luck.
