. .
These airplanes are punished that much that you have hardly valuable plane left if they are ever released. Besides that you can see that they did plenty dogfights above sea and that means that the plane is eaten up by corrosion...

I wouldn't talk to the US if I knew this. Seriously... I think we should skip this whole F16 thing.

given the recent developments, i think you may be right in more than one ways. i am beginning to think that the F16 saga may be over sooner than we think.
I do have a question. You may remember that US offered us block30/40s instead of these planes.Would we need to make drastic changes to our curerent infrastructure to manage those or will it be possible with our current setup.
Thanks in advance
Araz

its all about airframe hours - if we do get them, they will be completely upgraded (just like new, except for the "new smell")!

.
That would be correct if you talk about passengerplanes but here you have high performance fighterjets being pushed above the limits and far more frequent. There are parts that can be replaced or upgraded but these bodies are beaten and the smell is gone but so is rest flight hours. It would be different if you had average national guard duty.

.
depends on one's POV. the PAF rejected the ANG F-16s for the exact reason (old airframes) and the embargoed F-16s are/were almost brand new! anyway the USN has not agreed to release these 14 embargoed F-16s so far.

.
If one uses non naval fighterjets to train above salty sea then there is a need for different calculation. I rather would have gone for the ANG F16's. Maybe more flight hours but atleast they flew pretty much like passenger aircraft. ANG hardly do anything tough so the plane might have milage but only on the best roads. These USN F16's might have less milage but on the most destructive road and more hours in a shorter time frame.

you need to convince the PAF high command of your theory!:enjoy:

There are no big plans to get F16s i think...we just got to maintain the previous no. of planes.

We can see clearly we are more into JF17s and J-10s now

No theory... I did a course destructive and non destructive testing block 15 of the F16... I think I know enough details... And certainly know that PAF does know more then I ever will.

o i thought Pakistan was buying Brand New 18 F16 Block52????Or these extra will be delivered too?

Munir Sahib you definitely have a point here about the corrosion but in the case of these USN F-16s, I think that your concern doesn’t apply. These 14 embargoed F-16s A/B Block 15 were stored for quite some time at AMARC. From there these were allotted to USN and formed an Aggressor squadron at Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon, Nevada.

NAS Fallon, Nevada is around 250 to 300 miles from the western coast and these F-16 that are part of TOPGUN school, do not fly simulated air combat missions over the sea. Hence they are unaffected from the usual corrosion that other USN fighters might suffer from.

If these F-16s are given to us, rest assured that they will go thru MLU and all the airframe/engine maintenance issues would be tackled during the upgrades. I think that these F-16s have still got lot of juice left in them and once they undergo MLU, they will be at par with the rest of the fleet and ready to kick some arses...
