Why Hong Kong should send back ‘asylum’ seekers from India

Historically, people who were rich got to stay indoors all day, so they had lighter skin.

Whereas the poor had to work outside in the fields all day, so became heavily tanned.

This seems to be a common bias in much of the world, due to the same mechanic (rich stay indoors, poor work in the fields).

Nowadays it's the reverse though. Rich people like to get tanned to show they can take regular vacations. Weird world.
Yup,weird world.

The citizenship policy is not about colour, but about the blood and ethnicity.
Residency for non-Chinese, is about skills....
Only top scientists in China can apply for residency.

Continuing on Singapore's immigration policy(which is related to the topic at hand):

Singapore has 1.3 million foreign workers on work permit passes out of a total population of 5.7million. The overwhelming portion of this percentage consist of workers from South Asian countries like Bangladesh and India- as well as from the Philipines. They are mostly employed in the construction, marine, nurses and domestic helper sectors. Foreign workers are only allowed into the country in the first place on the condition that they are always employed at all times. This is to ensure that no unnecessary national resources are spent on non-citizens(in my own words- those who do not 'earn their own upkeep'). Should they get terminated from their jobs, their work permit would be cancelled and they would be deported immediately.

One would ask why the huge amount of the need to 'import' these unskilled/low-skilled workers in the first place?

The answer is very simple, because no Singaporeans are willing to take up these jobs that offers only meagre pays .

Actually China has received a lot of refugees from Southeast Asia.
But we take blood seriously.
Most refugees are ethnic Chinese.
http://www.unhcr.org/news/latest/20...ees-well-settled-china-await-citizenship.html

Vietnamese refugees well settled in China, await citizenship
One of the most successful local integration programmes in the world has seen some 300,000 former Vietnamese nationals build new lives in China. Ethnically Chinese, these refugees now want formal citizenship in their adopted homeland.

China is big, so she can accommodate 300,000 VN.
They can assimilate and contribute to the Chinese society.
They are smart people, they work hard to provide the best education to their kids who are born in China.
But indian refugees cannot do that in HK.

Exactly my thoughts!

It is extremely impractical to fell for the neo-liberal/globalist idea of creating global disastrous salad bowls. In fact, the West is backing away from that route and there is no reason for us to adopt the empirically failed policies.

China is not an immigrant nation. It has its own historic mission of providing the citizens with a moderately prosperous state of existence.

Hong Kong is being prudent, rational, and empirical.

A controlled number of experts being given residency are fine, in my view, as they would contribute to the society without being a socio-economic burden on the country.

But asylum-seekers? Those must stay where they are and work to fix their own problems rather than jumping and leeching on others' hard work.

I agree with you 100%. We should send back all those middle eastern "refugees' back home. After all, they are the first to talk shit about our country when they come here and gain asylum. hypocrites. China shouldn't give any of them asylum. we should learn from China and other East Asian countries in this regard. let them call us racists/evil as they always do, who cares?
They should fix their own countries instead of fleeing.

So in my opinion, why should Singapore accept refugees and asylums and spent resources on them when we are the 1s that build up this tiny island nation by our own means. Our forefathers- the poor and landless peasants from coastal southern China didnt had anything with them(except the sheer wits and determination to 'make it big') when they came to Singapore- yet Singapore is a rich and modernized country today. This is then where meritocracy comes into play.

Yes, it's amazing that the most underprivileged Chinese from China's poorest provinces (at that time Guangdong/Fujian very poor) can build such a successful society based on meritocracy.
It's their efforts, not other races or refugees.....
Singapore should perennially remain Chinese-majority.
If one day Singapore loses her Chinese-majority status, I'm pretty sure she will become a very ordinary small nation very soon.

Education is highly valued in Singapore(and Chinese societies). My grandfather worked very hard in his bicycle business(he had nothing, owned no land, back in Putian, Fujian) to support my extended family of 4uncles and 3 aunties and ensured they went to college and universities.

This scenario would be akin to a poor rural family preparing and sending their eldest son(or any son) to the imperial capital in ancient Chinese times to 考状元 升官(taking the imperial examination and enter the bureaucracy) in the hopes of increasing their fortunes and livelihood.

I dun agree with this. It's ok for innocent civilians to flee(it's not ok for soldiers to flee- because that amounts to cowardice). People flee in times of wars, disasters, crisis since time immemorial.

The question here is- Are they contributing to the country they've fled to? Or are they just being parasites by using up other the resources of their hosts countries without giving back anything?

. .
Indian applying for asylum is clearly a fraud. And why Hong Kong? And of course refugee drain resources. Ask Turkey.
@Lure @T-123456 How many in Turkey now?
You can send them to Europe!

I think migrants/refugees do make a huge contribution to UK, without them, UK economy will collapse.
I tell you, I find local people really lazy when I studied abroad....
What'll happen when 7-11 cannot find labor?
Concerning high-skill legal migration, our Pakistani brother is now their London mayor:enjoy:

Not that easy,we have over 3 million refugees, since the ''door'' to western Europe is closed, they dont want to go.
None of them wants to end up in Greece(treated like animals) so there is only one option left.
The Euphrates Shield operation could be the solution to send them back to Syria, the ''plan'' is to create a safe haven in Syrian territory(100km x100km),protected by the FSA with support from the Turkish Army against ISIS,YPG(terrorists)and Assads army where they can live until an agreement is reached by all the parties in Syria.
They are a big burden for our economy and most importantly, for my people, they(most) do not respect my country and should leave as soon as possible.

Open the border, let them go to Greece.
I'm sure Greece will negotiate with Europe...

Not that easy, there is a deal in progress with the EU regarding visa free travel for Turkish nationals in the EU,if the deal is off,Erdogan will open all the gates(so he says).
We'll have to wait and see.
