Just why?? I don't get it.. Most of the terrorists in the region cross from that region into Pakistan and then run back, why haven't we done something about our border with Afghanistan yet?? The mother of all evils??

We have thousands of thousands of troops on our Eastern Borders with India and along Kashmir.. and alot of border infrastructure there .

Why haven't we done something about our Afghan border, which is pretty open and porous and almost ANYONE can cross it bothways, Terrorists,Smuglers,Drug dealers etc. all prefer this border for their illegal activities.

Why don't we fence that border and form military zones there??

Please reply ..

We needed to seal that before 67 years ago, what is our army upto?? Too busy taking digs at Kashmir border ?

Any replies ???

You will fence Durand line ? How do you think Afghans will react ?

. .
May be the costs involved in doing that have deterred your authorities

. . .
Fencing is not solution as one have to put troops on patrol to monitor it, easy solution is laying heavy mines as per requirement and use Earth Penetrating Radars via UAVs or planes to monitor under ground tunnels, whenever one is find destroy it immediately.

Mined border will need less troops to monitor it as UAVs & UCAVs will be better option to continuously monitor border while heli-borne Army units could take out any major threat. A well equipped F.C will be able to handle border easily

sadly, they are too busy with pinpricking India for the sake of political leverage within the Pakistani awaam, and its not looking like they'll let go in the foreseeable future either, or maybe ever..

imo, even if not UN recognized, at least both sides should start the process of mining/fencing the hell out of the Kashmir LOC on both sides and make it a de facto intl. border.. that would go a long way in stabilizing the region.

Afghanistan is a 7th century hell hole, too fertile a breeding ground for terrorists for anyone to do anything about it, both NATO and the Soviets failed, best to leave them to their own devices and build a giant wall and stop those animals and their mentality to cross over.. physically where possible, like the af/pak border.. and drown them in regulations and paperwork etc when it comes to issuing passports to travel abroad (by way of increased scrutiny and background checks)

Work has started on securing the western border.200+ t-55s we recently aren't meant for India.Expect a fully manned and monitored border after completion of Zarb-e-Azb.It is one of the final objectives of this operation.

The same question I want to ask some army official.

I agree bro .. A sensible post by an Indian  but LOC will only be recognized as IB if Kashmir dispute is resolved .

I hope so bro, IMO Afghanistan border is farrrrrrrrrr more dangerous than the Kashmir border.

We should've mined and secured it decades ago, what the hell were we upto? I saw a video yesterday on ARY related to Zarb E Azb operation the anchor told that the Army first entered the FATA region in 2004 since independence, like WTF???

hey, I only troll in retaliation.. and even then, it's just trolling [when irl mostly i'm trying to hold my tears back {from laughing} as I post the ban worthy stuff here lol :P]

man, this whole Kashmir business is almost like the israel/palestine thing, and we shouldn't hold our breaths waiting for a resolution

Afghanistan, though... what a nightmare it must be to have them as next door neighbours, think I saw something not too long ago about miles and miles of trenches along that border of yours, international conventions be damned, it'll be great if you AP mine the fuk out of it.. + electric fence it to insta fry anyone who dares breach it.

first of they are expensive, secondly the number of earthquakes there make it an unsafe option. The real solution is a layered defence with the first layer being on the border.

this is how Saudi Arabia did it, something that is very expensive but very very effective with a great efficacy in stopping any border incursion.
