gen Musharraf was too busy cozying up to the US. the border should have been fenced and mined at 45 different entry and exit routes along the border. 100% fencing is cost prohibitive due to the mountainous terrain.

Well the border should be sealed off completely & should be monitored for any illegal activity, but I don't know why this has not been done even after facing loads of problems from Afghan side & till date those problems continue.

first of they are expensive, secondly the number of earthquakes there make it an unsafe option. The real solution is a layered defence with the first layer being on the border.

this is how Saudi Arabia did it, something that is very expensive but very very effective with a great efficacy in stopping any border incursion.

This is exactly how it should be done & the whole border should be mined because of hostile activity from Afghan side.
