But that’s the point. Many of the people that are now calling against immigration were immigrants themselves who are not long resident in the country. They are second or third generation who changed Australian culture themselves and now want to pull up the drawbridge.

Australian immigration will continue to remain open if you are white, English speaking and especially if you're Catholic. They equally hate the Russian orthodox Christians. Basically, Australia has reverted back to its White Australia Policy (Inspired by guess who) in all but name.

Just look at how Muslims and Indians act in public in Australia, staring at women, talking loudly, rude, they smell bad, they don't respect women, play their music loudly. No they don't but their snobbish shitty remarks time and again should stop. They did not immigrate people from other countries for charity (bar some refugees), they did it because they benefited from it. Australia has strict immigration laws with numerous conditions to fulfill such as English test, professional qualification test, living in regional areas for a number of years etc. They have put those conditions for their own benefits, to fill up skill shortages and in places where most immigrants don't want to live in but they are required there.

The situation on the ground is that many people are either Catholic reverts or outright changed to Protestantism. I have had the opportunity to actually talk to people who have reverted and it seems the Church's hypocrisy, the teachings not making rational sense, and abuse are the reasons which most people talk about.
