Basically the Chinese know the workings of the IAF in and out since they have the same fighters ... the same does not apply to the Indians. But honestly with the J-20, the J-10s, and J-16s, the Chinese will probably grab aerial superiority within the first couple hours of any hypothetical conflict and keep it for the duration of the conflict. I really only see the IAF being effective at harassing Chinese fighters but not effectively contesting airspace. Unfortunately, India's best shot at contesting Chinese aerial superiority ended after they pulled out of the FGFA program.

Sorry but a lot of people would disagree with you.

Even though Rafale is good 4+ gen fighter, it will be outclassed by the J-20 that was developed as a 5th generation fighter, although it is not quite up there with the US types.

J-10C with AESA + PL-15 will have a decisive advantage over anything but Rafales that India has and I do think that the Rafale is better than the J-10C.

Problem for India is that it is too poor and cannot buy what China can produce. Unless the US will sell F-22s/F-35s to India at discount prices, the IAF will keep falling further and further behind the PLAAF.

5) the IAF has the netra and phalcon systems which are capable of detecting any aircraft within 5000km. How will China sneak past these?

6) most importantly, India has brave pilots like Abhinandan who have the courage to go into enemy territory and drink all their tea. How will chinese pilots fight when IAF pilots drink all their tea?

Sometimes I do feel like the whole world is against India and purposely undermining its capabilities. If the Indians can shoot down their own aircraft and sink their own ships and subs, how can any nation fight such a resourceful people?

I am talking about Chinese s-400s part from J-20s which will shoot down the Indian Rafales.

Cy-400 Surface to Air Defenses Batteries are Jointly produced by Rus Federation Defense Industries and People Republic of China Defense Industries.

Chinese Air Force Cy-35 are integrated with Cy-400 ; Jiang 20 are integrated with the Chinese Air Defenses Ly-80.

India does not have any S-400s. They are begging Russia to expedite but Russia is not interested.

Indian Armed Forces have Acquired Certain Numbers of Cy-400 Batteries along with the Radars from Syrian National Army and even from Iraqi Establishment.

Even the Turkish Armed Forces as well as Egyptian Armed Forces have acquired some Cy-400 Batteries !

Republic of France -Dassault Defense Industry made Rafales are Seventh Generation Aircraft which is according to French Aircraft Industry; But according to Allied Nations Aircraft Industry, Republic of France -Dassault Defense Industry made Rafales are below 4.5 Generation.

Jiang 20 comes under Different Counting Specifications.

United States of America have Sold Certain Numbers of F16 Block 35 to Pakistan Air Force in the 1980's. Chinese, Ruse, Germans, Polish and Pakistanis Aviation Experts have made changes in the F16's depending on thier National Interest.

If I was French, I would delay the delivery of Rafaels to India till things cool down with China. You really don't want your front line prized jet to be shot down so quickly after the delivery, and hand over the marketing/sales coup to the Chinese, who by any account will be rubbing their hands to avail this opportunity and show case their own products.
