Why doesn't Pakistan build an aircraft carrier?

Well yes they do need 3 of them in my view 2 conventional 1 nuclear the conventional ones for karachi and gwadar and the nuclear one for attacking india with atleast 20-25 subs 10 destroyers 20 friggates

Carriers are like AWACS system, They don't participate in war directly. Usually a carrier reside 700-1000 km away from enemy. Once front boats clear the threat they step ahead.

Fast attack boats, Frigates, SSN, Killer submarines are the boats which face the enemy directly (face to face). ACs provide Air cover. AC is force multiplier and costly asset, no country will expose it to killed by "cheap" missiles.

Before some "cheap" missile reach it, The Fast attack boats and destroyers will destroy the Missile SILO.

whatever gets the job done be it stealing or inventing lets face it ethic's don't count sh!t in matters of national defense however what's important is the know how & the base to build it, which Pakistan has achieved (1998 nuclear tests)

as for the navy i will go with black widows assessment once the economy is back on track what Pakistan will need to focus on is to develop a blockade breaking capability in another words a "green water navy" like the south Korean navy

an aircraft carrier dosnt operate alone - it has a full carrier group of surface and sub-surface platforms supporting / defending it. the current strenght of the PN would not suffice to support the aircraft carrier. the yearly cost of USD 500m just to operate the aircraft carrier alone is equal to the PN budget.

Yes definitely... Build and operate 4-5 CBGs in about 7 yeras : Regional power for sure..
Go on inducting CBGs at the same pace for two decades and we will see a Global super power...

PN does what suits it and not just copy india

PN has limited budget hence they have to spend carefully

it seems (news on pk defense ) PN is already acquiring at least 1 to 2 SSGNs/SSBNs

this means they are already stretching their budget to Maximum

this rules out possibility of AC

BUILDING AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER?????.......are you guys out of your mind???.........IN has operated 2 aircraft carriers since the 1960's(1 is operational now) and our carrier building project started(drawings and all)in the 1990's!!!......building the carrier started in the 2000's....................so you guys should just forget about "BUILDING" an aircraft carrier..............and besides why would a BROWN WATER NAVY suddenly need an aircraft carrier...............first buy more destroyers,frigates and subs to convert PN in a GREEN WATER NAVY and then think about aircraft carriers!!!!CHEERS!!!

especially maintenance required more money than build

"Pakistan Steel mills" lies in ruins, high quality of steel is needed to manufacture aircraft carrier at home. The Steel Authority of India started manufacturing such quality of steel for Vikrant Class Carrier. Plus before manufacturing Aircraft Carrier, a country first need to have experience in maintaining Aircraft carrier, even Chinese went for buying their first Aircraft carrier instead of manufacturing it.
