Why does China keep supporting Burma in the Rohingya crisis?

Be that as it may, that excuses a campaign of mass displacement with violence? i.e. ethnic cleansing?

Hey look at what the US and the Iraqi govt under its control did for like 5 years straight. Not to mention the cacophony of actors (including western) in Syria. Yet they (US, west esp MSM) hypocritically target Myanmar....when the casualties aren't even that high % wise and there was clear sustained instigation across many years (and Im not talking just ARSA...burmese members know much more and can tell you...but of course they are not "credible" but almost everyone else automatically is)...and proven foreign allegiance of a group of people along with a rough history in the area regarding politics (stemming from British colonial period).

Its not pretty when there are populations that dont fit into a broader nation....esp when they didnt give a serious try and at first opportunity accepted their allegiance is not to the country they find themselves in.

I don't want to get into even more examples all across history...that get a free or justified pass today.

I'm not asking for whataboutisms.

Is the ethnic cleansing of the Rohingyas justified?

.
Because Myanmar despite their pro-Western tilt is still a thousand million times more reliable than a backstabbing Bangladesh.

First Bangladesh backstabbed Pakistan in favor of India, then they backstabbed China on Sonadia port in favour of India/US. Now they are backstabbing the Rohingya by claiming that Myanmar is genociding them, yet they are still throwing them back to Myanmar, denying them basic refugee status, and even sealing the border so they can't escape.
Be realistic, for China its mostly economical, the military part(thanks to the Rohinya crisis and reactions of the West) is a bonus.

No one tries to justify ethnic cleansing here, but how to define an ethnic leansing and how to fix them can be debatable, the west is accusing China for ethnic cleansing against Uyghurs but everyone who ever visited Xinjiang knows that's not true.

Well I wasn't on the ground there so I cannot comment so broadly yet specifically.

Killing of innocent people is never justified.

Barely a country (esp those with loud enough voices) in this world has clean hands...so I personally don't like singling out A, B or C....esp when there is a complex environment and local history (and everything reported though the cookie cutter MSM - which has own agendas)

China has kept it's hands clean of any sufficient peace deal between Myanmar and Rohingya. And you yourself said that non-interference is Chinese policy. So why try to invent trophies to aware yourself now?

We know the West wants chaos, but neither is China the harbinger of peace.
You are a person with knowledge.:tup::tup:

A simple yes or no is sufficient.

Then,what do you call it?

Unresolved partition/conflict. It is only crystallising now because Burma has largely solved its issues with the rest of its ethnicities (who btw never called upon anyone to annex them)...and can focus on finishing up on the population transfer that the British did not complete because of their hurried leaving (this was an issue that cropped up in Sri Lanka too)....with minimal fuss and maximum result (yes people get killed...like has always happened since time eternal).

You probably know all too well what such things involve...like was the case between you (Turks) and the Greeks...but at least in your case after Smyrna/Izmir was taken back into Turkey and the Greeks deported from there (and you accepted Turks living in Greek controlled areas)....there is no contentious territories (with political control by one entity but large hostile population from another).

Similarly I hope you can respect what would have likely happened throughout the 20th century if Smyrna Greeks were allowed to stay under Turkish control (and vice versa)....I mean just look at what happened in Cyprus.

Can we call it ethnic cleansing? There is whole different myriad factors going on, ethnic cleansing to me is too specific and narrow a term to employ. Ethnic cleansing to me is when you seek to wipe out a whole race of people from the face of the earth completely....not just push them over to where they came from to have better long term political stability (which they also have admitted to, but just on their terms).

I wouldn't call the forced transfer (including killings of many innocents) of Germans in East Prussia etc into Germany's new borders as "ethnic cleansing" by the poles, czechs etc as ethnic cleansing either. They were not pursued to the ocean, just pursued to the new boundary agreed upon. But South Asia, lot of this stuff was not finished up cleanly and more peacefully earlier....and now there is even more bad blood because of it in spots.

Chinese are arrogant and diplomatically inept.

They have grown too big for their boots and the rest of Asia will bring them back into line.

I do not recognise it as ethnic cleansing.

The ones claiming it as such, have engaged in exact same activity themselves including BD.

eth·nic cleans·ing
/ˈeTHnik klenziNG/
noun
  1. the mass expulsion or killing of members of an unwanted ethnic or religious group in a society.

Perhaps you're confusing your understanding of ethnic cleansing with I dunno....genocide?

Till its actually defined by those (hypocritically too) trying to lay charges...wikipedia/internet search cherrypicking means squat.

http://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/ethnic-cleansing.html

Ethnic cleansing has not been recognized as an independent crime under international law. The term surfaced in the context of the 1990’s conflict in the former Yugoslavia and is considered to come from a literal translation of the Serbo-Croatian expression “etničko čišćenje”. However, the precise roots of the term or who started using it and why are still uncertain.

The expression “ethnic cleansing” has been used in resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly, and has been acknowledged in judgments and indictments of the ICTY, although it did not constitute one of the counts for prosecution. A definition was never provided.
