It has something to do with Chanakya. Like Confucius, his philosophy is internalized in India. But unlike Confucius whose teaching was moral and upright, Chanakya taught Indian only cheatery, fraudulence, backstabbing, lying, dishonesty etc. Marwari Banya class has excelled in this qualities and they are running India and controlling entire economy. Banya is so much influential in India that, now a days two words are spoken as a synonym. India is banya and banya is India.

Excellent insight. I knew about this chankya thingy and his influence on the politics but I didn't know how deeply his philosophy has been ingrained into the hindu culture.

Not in whole Hindu culture , but only in Upper class Marwaris ,& few Brahmins & Kshatriyas

India is a land of contradictions. While, a lot of you seem to enjoy trolling (well, it is your right) - you must realize that while India is extremely corrupt, it also has the world's highest number of NGOs helping people in multiple spheres - education, sanitation, healthcare, animal welfare etc.

I've seen more Pakistanis mention Chanakya than Indians have - I really have no idea why that is. Most Indians wouldn't even know who he was.

If a majority of Indians enjoyed corruption so much, they would not have stood up against Indira Gandhi in the 1970s, nor would a multitude of scams be unearthed. A lot of Indian politicians have been jailed.

But generalizations tend to help people feel better about their own countries' shortcomings. That would explain the mass trolling here.

Some one who says that overcharging or exorbitant pricing does not happen in western countries is just bull-shitting. There might be non existent of law & order but to say western countries dont have this issue is pretty stupid.
