Why can't our authorities (FDA,PTA) ban UmerMedia (TTP Official Website)

Sir, the assumption that the process can be reversed may not be true.

Of course it is. We have seen indoctrination rolled back in a number of societies. Japan, Germany, USA, RSA, to name a few.

I wish I shared your certainty of reversibility, but I do not, since none of your examples are applicable to Pakistan.

Well of course, there is very little applicability between them too but the fact of the matter remains that these are all societies that have been polar opposites of themselves just close to a third of a century ago.

All societies evolve naturally over time. Pakistani society is on a path to self-destruction, which needs to complete before it can rise again. Rise it will, if that is your point, but the existing structures will need to be dismantled before that can happen. Increasing social distress exacerbated by economic collapse will be the likely culprits. The process is already underway and irreversible.

Look at what is happening in Saudi Arabia of late and consider whether you would still wish to use it as an example. They are going to hell in a handbasket soon.

Faith and hope are good, but they must take a back seat to actual data. Social indices and the economy will win over them inevitably. And trends for both remain on an ever worsening trajectory in Pakistan, despite the strident claims of many here with wonderfully positive, but contrived, good news about them.

It is not my faith, but your denial, that should be considered disturbing, Sir.

ouch that hurt
I care more for your chair you sit on to have your dinner than what will become of the Saudi Royal arses,
as for us, we need little shock therapies and puts us back in line. it has worked before and will work till my life time for me to care.
nothing is permanent in this world. so if this is our fate then so be it.
but I will ask you to change your mind when we finally raid and dismantle this terror den called Red Mosque in Islamabad.. it encourages the copy cats in real life and on the web to praise extremism

Shock therapy is good. Electrocution with a 440KV mainline is not. :D

(PS: Only if there is actual electricity in that power line. )

If and when that happens, I will be happy to do so. Dismantling the terror networks is not going to be easy given how far and wide and deep they have taken root in Pakistani society, All the trends seem to indicate that the process is irreversible.

ISLAMABAD:
Murree is apparently out of bounds under the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism. The popular getaway destination for tourists has been spared of operations or raids since the implementation of the revised anti-terror policy.

While the official explanation might be of saving the dwindling tourism industry, the real reason, according to the Rawalpindi police, runs deep.

Year of heightened security: Living under the National Action Plan

A recent report submitted to the Punjab police chief and the home department claims the ruling PML-N leaders have barred the law enforcers from taking any action in Murree as it leads to protests.

While recommending immediate action in Murree, which houses around 300 hotels, the report stated only 10% of the total visitors to Murree were genuine tourists while the others were criminals, including terrorists, activists of banned outfits and proclaimed offenders.

These criminals and terrorists stay for months in hotels, guesthouses and rest houses while paying hefty rents. If the police launch any raids, the hotel owners and tourist associations stage protests. The protesters block various roads leading to Murree that in turn annoys some members of the ruling party in Punjab and the Centre.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif have personal residences in the area.

The report said most hotel owners are also members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and immediately approach the party leadership, especially Raja Ashfaq Sarwar and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, to complain against the police.

NAP implementation: 57 people arrested so far on charges of terror financing

In the name of tourism, the report claimed, the area has become a sanctuary for terrorists and a hub of criminals.

Officials in Punjab and federal governments believe the Rawalpindi police have been restrained by the high-ups from carrying out any raids, search operations or even taking action against violation of loudspeaker laws in Murree.

The Punjab government and the federal interior ministry have rather asked the law enforcers to focus on ‘other areas’ of Rawalpindi, the officials said. A senior minister in Punjab cabinet brushed aside the allegations, saying the Punjab police were doing an excellent job under the NAP against terrorism.

A member of the Murree Hotel Association said the police raided the hotels unnecessarily and scared away tourists. “It is our right to stage peaceful protests against police injustices,” he added. Punjab minister Raja Ashfaq refused to comment when contacted.

It is a matter of threat perception and priorities. For some reason despite countless attacks and murders we have failed to acknowledge the threat terrorism poses. I am sorry to say this but at times the army has failed to recognize the primary threat. For example the action against Baloch seperatists is more severe than action against LEJ. it is changing but I have heard reports of mullah type army officials refusing to take action against militants in Swat. I could brush this away like unpopular sayings but the fact remains that some people see it this way.

It is not just Murree or one political party.

Terrorism as a tool is being used by all the major political parties, government and the military, and not just in a few areas, but all over the country by someone or the other. Madrassas and mosques spew the language of radicalism and hatred according to their own sect's views, from little ones out in the rural areas to big ones in fancy housing societies and cantonments across a broad swathe of social classes. Organizations like Al-Huda radicalize the women, concentrating on the upper middle class. The Army itself believes it is the force of Islam as part of its indoctrination.

All of the above is cloaked in religion, and protected by overwhelming legal and social trends. And the people have been fed this diet since the early 80s in ever increasing doses. Couple such an environment with social deprivation, economic stagnation and failed governance, and the recipe becomes lethally toxic.

Disaster is inevitable.

my bad i should have elaborated on the news i shared above - i mean look at the actions of hotel association - for their personal agenda they are jeopardizing the security of entire region....if am being told to confirm the identity of my tenants i would in a breath handover the IDs but here is really a sad state of affairs

The hotel association is part of the same society Sir. Everybody is watching out for only themselves. Identifying tenants is a good security measure, but what good will it do when anybody with the right connections can move all over the country, assured of anonymous stays at mosques and private residences, with food, no questions asked?
