I have a question. Why did bangladesh buy almost $4.5 Billion dollars from local banks? Wont this step devalue bangladeshi currency and increase inflation sky high.
that is the plan. devalue BDT to keep export on peace keeping balance with inflation

Ooopsy.. my bad.. corrected it..
Its more impressive that Pakistan and Bangladesh were at the same level for garment exports in 2002 and today they are 10 times of Pakistan. Bangladesh is progressing and Pakistan is regressing..

BD is faring well since it's pro-India/business and against Islamic extremist elements..............but there are few who are pro-Pakistan and for extremism, they are called 'Rajakars' in BD, if they somehow come to power, that will be the beginning of their downfall again.....they'll start faring like Pakistan......

Theoretically it would. But I don't know the intricacies involved here. But a reason given out by the central bank was to keep the dollar exchange at the current level. Otherwise it was going down because in real terms our currency is getting stronger and should overtake I/Rs if let alone. This they have said is to help the exporters - which I for one do not agree.

Congrats,

Thats an impressive increase from 2.1Billion dollars in 2002 to 21Billion dollars in 2013-14

The rise in textiles exports from India is largely attributed to the growth in the apparel and clothing sector as these account for almost 43 per cent of the share.

"Despite having slow recovery in our biggest traditional markets -- the US and EU, prevailing global slowdown and the sustained cost of inflationary inputs, we made the best possible efforts to reach here".

"Government's policy of diversification of market and product base helped us and we ventured into the newer ..

Why would it be in India's interest for BD to succeed?

If both unitary Sri Lanka and BD do much better than India then the whole question of keeping an economically failed multi-ethnic India comes into question.
