Actually, BD has full potential to become next IT hub competing with India. Take this example, BD is working to bring PayPal to BD .. they mean business. As a fast growing economy over 7% , they have surely a great future ahead.

IT sector is stagnating. IT exports haven't been increasing as rapidly as expected. Now many CS students are getting jobs in other countries. I guess same happened to India 10-20 years ago when IIT grads in CS used to find employment in US or Europe. But now India itself is a IT powerhouse. BD's scene is more comparable with India's 10-20 years ago. When India was building those IT parks like BD is building now. Hopefully things will improve in a few years. As of now most of the CS grads from BUET, KUET, DU gets job overseas in Japan, Singapore and to a lesser extent US and EU. BD's regional IT market isn't doing that great

I have been to BD many times and trust me i would live in Pak over BD anyday and not just saying that as a Pakistani

Bangladeshi cities are overcrowded thus dirtier and have poorer infrastructure compared to Pakistani cities. Although BD is trying to catch up with rest of South Asia in terms of infrastructure.

When was the last time you went to BD?

Look at Viets, they are slowly working hard in the footsteps of South Korea.
BD can do the same.

Viets gets tons of foreign investments unlike BD. Their export base is much more matured and diversified unlike BD. Also due to Vietnam's geographical position it is much more viable to invest there for China, Korea and Japan compared to BD or even India.

The reason is different priorities. Pakistan is focused to be a regional power. So that Pakistan can have influence on Afghanistan, Iran and Parts of India, i.e. Kashmir. Their focus is outward.

Bangladesh's focus is to make life better for the people of Bangladesh. Pakistan is a country with Geopolitical ambition while Bangladesh have very little geopolitical ambition. Bangladesh is focused on itself not on others.

Tbh quality of life does seem better in Pakistan - you have a lot more space (less population density), your land is also very good for building on and you have an ample supply of building materials locally. You are all blessed with beautiful Highlands too.

But the economy part is 100% true, there is no doubt that BD is more productive than Pakistan today. Sadly even with that, to achieve quality of life on par will take a while.

BD is a small homogeneous country who's been left in peace you are not involved in major world events Pakistan is a very large and diverse multi-ethnic and share groups with all it's neighbors and it looked after the largest refugee population in the world for many years so naturally focus will be more outward we don't have the luxury of being selfish like BD.

There are multiple reasons that has an impact on political and economic situation of Pakistan.

• Pakistan nuclear weapon, and due to Nuclear weapons, many countries and agencies are trying their best to destabilize Pakistan
• Active border on both east and west side
• Multiple wars and law and order situation.
• 3 million refugees afghan refugees
• Corruption: Pakistani corrupt politicians taken IMF loans for development but they lauder development money to offshore accounts.
• Corruption in like a poison which has destroyed every government institution, Judicial system, police and agencies are also not free from it.

And we are inshallah surviving despite all of the above and shall inshallah thrive in near future.

Pakistan is not the only country like that. There are many multi ethnic countries which shares groups with it's neighbor. Indonesia for example. They are doing fine.
