I can't say for sure. Don't know if anyone has even tried to do DNA tests on it. But it is plausible, since Sri Lanka became a huge center for Buddhist faithful as well as learning; that a relic of the Buddha would be given to them as a mark of distinction and status. In any case, in the Buddhist ways; preserving of bony parts of revered figures such as bones, skulls and teeth was customary.

Yes plausible, however it sill constitutes only circumstantial evidence. It not sufficient to establish the authenticity of the claim beyond any reasonable doubt, or even a balance of probabilities.
