I notice a trend here and elsewhere and I am not objecting to it per say- But I find most Indians being being very amicable and putting out their hand towards acceptance towards Pakistanis. Given the realities of the sordid history and present relationship among you two- I am curious as to why such a sentiment.

Let me give you one example among several here that I saw lately.

A poster started a thread about " what would be your version of a similar NATO alliance". I noticed several Indians adding pakistan in the mix of countries.

Now if you look at it objectively, academically with no bias rather solely on the merits. Having pakistan as part of such an agreement holds no strategic value towards such groupings. NATO like alliances are foremost among developed countries or in your case ( region) projected to be developed countries with assets ( be it military, geographic locations) worthy of challenging the REAL NATO alliance. Having a military industrial complex that can build indigenous, high value military products or are projected in the coming decade. None of this exists with Pakistan- so how you justify an honest assessment for your region with having them in it?

alternatively- every Pakistani who posted in that thread side stepped India in their " desired grouping of countries " to fall under such NATO LIKE alliance. Frankly I would not be off base in saying, they don't really care about alliances with Indians

again- my question is purely academic and I asked it here because it is a defense related alliance primarily .

It's people with this mentality who always hinder peace process.

what mentality would that be? I have asked an honest question based on facts and devoid of emotions .

Not entirely true. Many (not most) trolls from India are here just to gloat about India's economy and what nots. But the senior members and quite a few non-seniors are different though and fairly objective.

Peace between these two countries is ideal, and why shouldnt one want peace among human? But Im not sure if it is practical, either accept it or not, religion does play a role, Conflict between polytheist and Muslims is quite old, from age of prophet Noah, to prophet Ibrahim, to prophet Mosa, to prophet Muhammad (saw) (peace be upon them all), and it seems it will keep on going till this world is destroyed by the will of God.

I think before we Muslims go in to deal with mushriks/polytheists/Hindus, both sides need to consider this aspect of humanity.

You know we are polytheists too right? We have loads of deities for every facet of life, even the God of doorways.

If this your academic tone then i dont know what will going to happen in a non academic conversation. Secondly people who deserve respect on a serious conversation always get respect from pakistani members. All the questions asked can easily be thrown back at you.

Amicable? as in why Indians are not hostile towards Pakistani's?

Must be a Sub continent unity hangover - which senior members know that is not possible between Pakistan and India - but the forum has many new and immature members who think it's a distant possibility.

You know we are polytheists too right? We have loads of deities for every facet of life, even the God of doorways.

You are in the list too.

Maybe it's psychological? To counter other potential threats they perceive?

Pakistanis are apprehensive of the USA, whereas Indians are apprehensive of China. A little "bhai-bhai" attitude after fighting all those wars.

Suffice to say, seeing from SAARC, the Kashmir issue, and among others, a NATO-like alliance in this region is very unlikely to ever happen.

As if Indian Muslims never served in the Indian armed forces? Pakistan's (as well as mine's) largest weapons supplier happens to be China.

Come now

I've noticed this trend as well. Quite annoying by some of my fellow Indian members to repeatedly extend a hand despite being constantly bitten by these people. I have no objection to Indo - pak cooperation, but friendship is pushing it (knowing their history).
