What's new

Who said Pakistan is poor country

Also read an article that the government released I think 30 billion for renovation of judge's residences.
lol....forget to mention ... judges' houses renovation and new luxury cars ................lollllll

you want truth we need Stalinist leader who would throw out the bank and move towards the barter international trade. and execute all enemies immediately.
Actually, I was joking. We need a higher average IQ. All the symptoms of decay are due to low IQ in general. A few Taiwanese populating one City of Pakistan would make it to first world standards.

When India and Bangladesh- two of some of the world's poorest countries- can be considered "modernizing" since over 20 years, then I guess that would put Pakistan is a super position, but we know it's all baloney.

That comment deserves Five Stars. If anyone looks at Dar's performance over the last year, it is obvious that an average economics graduate from a good school would have done a far better job. Heck, even me, though I took just one course eons back.

Brain drainer is killer dear ... imagine him and present Dar the Dark ages.

Amazing Pakistani Scholars

Dr Mahboob ul Haq

Picture

One of his favorite quotations was by Bernard Shaw, ‘You see things that are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?’.

This is perhaps a true reflection of an amazing economics genius of modern times, Dr Mahboob ul Haq.

His accomplishments are many which range from his work in United Nations as well as a leading policy maker for Pakistani finance.

He is recognized for the fact that he was a visionary Finance Minister for Pakistan whose five year plan was used by South Koreans to establish their country on modern lines.

Now a days, there is a model known as HDI or Human Development Index which is widely used to rank countries the world over based on their development. This is an established model followed by United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as a standard model for gauging any country’s development. Few people realize while reading its annual reports today that architect of this comprehensive model was no other than an amazing Pakistani, Dr Mahbub ul Haq.

Our Foriegn reserves says "We are Poor".

But yeah looking at lifestyles of public office holders, no one can judge that this country is on verge of default.

Generals, Bureaucrats, Senators, organization's top offcials all pouring unthinkable public's resources on their non-essential / luxurious lifestyles and that is one of the top reasons we are unable to meet our expenses. The massive manpower reserved for high ranking officers both military & civil is a huge burden. Their salaries, pensions, medicals, petrol and what not by tax payer money. Irony that many of organisations are in loss and still their shoda pan is not over.

We need to change our laws. Govt should not be liable to pay any organisation that is in loss for more than x amount of months. They should fix themselves or fire extra staff. PPP has always done nationalization and made the state pay for salaries of employees who never came to offices in decades.

They are right. That is why I say Pakistan doesnt have an economic problem, it has a public finance problem, GOP may go broke, but Pak people will do well or if not well, they will do take care of themselves.

I think it’ll be fair for the government to just slash the development budget by about 50% and focus on the bare minimum.

Why go in so much debt when noone really pays taxes.

Still wouldn't work

Because the problem in Pakistan is that only crooks are allowed to run things - and they don't tend to be too intelligent nor do they care about anything other than themselves

Taiwanese would be sidelined and treated like shit just like everyone else. Only Sharifs and Dars will control policy.

Pakistan's problem is lack of meritocracy, honesty and too much nepotism + corruption

I meant if a different population was put into a local city completely left to their own devices as a test. I'm fairly confident the Taiwanese would have a functioning city, with a proper legal frame work developed over time. Corrruption is inherent to some societies. To others its not present in the same degree to where it handicaps progress. Remove the Sharifs and another political dynasty would take over. We dont really see a lot of militarty coups in East Asia do we? Even in NK where the army could simply remove the fat boy wth the support of the ppl, they dont do it.

Well that wouldn't be Pakistan then, it would be mini-Taiwan

And yes I agree, some cultures are more prone to corruption and require strict rules enforcement to push them out of it

But my point is Pakistan needs strict meritocracy and strict punishment of nepotism and corruption

Right now the most low IQ and undeserving theives are in-charge, you could still have much more intelligent and dedicated people from such a large population
