Who are the laziest?

If one considers the Pakistani population as a whole, including the middle class, then a figure of 1 in 3 approx. not doing sufficient exercise to maintain health, particularly women, seems quite plausible, does it not?
70% of population is in rural areas and definitely get enough exercise. Are you saying that 100% of the urban population is lazy?

I am not saying anything. I am merely pointing out that the methodology of the paper appears to be quite robust, and hence its conclusions also.

yes the new generation japanese kids are too lazy, Their economy is holding on due to old generation are still working. Young generation are too lazy to work.

who told you that, let me tell you that's fake too.

People in rich countries don't get lazy; they get chronic fatigue syndrome.

You never hear a laborer in a poor country call in "sick" because he has CFS.

Anyway, I don't know about India or Bangladesh, but I can believe the stats about Pakistan. Life is too easy in urban Pakistan. People tend to start work at 10am, take 2 hour lunch breaks and then close up at 6. Most of the chores at home are done by domestics, unlike in developed countries where you have to do it all yourself.

. . .
They put Pakistan in the 30-40% category, completely neglecting the fact that life here for most of the population is so tough that it does not require daily exercise. A person who pulls a cart in the market may not go to the gym and get the minimum exercise but I can bet he will be stronger and fitter than any other guy who meets the criteria of the minimum workout.
Have to agree with you...if you work ten hours in a field...you are lazy because you don't hit the gym afterwards?(PS....why do they have a white chick in the pic for swaziland? It is an enclave totally in South Africa...set up as "independant" to keep the Zulus in line.)

. .
I think lazy is the wrong word. It is just taking into account physical activity. Sitting on a desk all day working/studying hard would get a lot less points compared to aimlessly walking around.

Agreed. Inactivity as the quoted part says.

The reason is not lazy kids but aging population, in case of Japan.. With age, comes the inactivity..

The report is not about hitting gym but about total physical activity in any form I think..

Read this from the Summary of the report.

In this report, we describe physical activity levels worldwide with data for adults (15 years or older) from 122 countries and for adolescents (13—15-years-old) from 105 countries. Worldwide, 31·1% (95% CI 30·9—31·2) of adults are physically inactive, with proportions ranging from 17·0% (16·8—17·2) in southeast Asia to about 43% in the Americas and the eastern Mediterranean. Inactivity rises with age, is higher in women than in men, and is increased in high-income countries. The proportion of 13—15-year-olds doing fewer than 60 min of physical activity of moderate to vigorous intensity per day is 80·3% (80·1—80·5); boys are more active than are girls.

I have to admit I am in that inactivity zone too.
