JAMMU: Even as Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was being feted and applauded at the Rashtrapati Bhavan forecourt during the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, Pakistan Rangers twice violated ceasefire on Monday, firing several sniper shots at Indian posts, with the second violation at around 6:15pm - just when the oath-taking ceremony was on in New Delhi.

Pakistani troops first breached the ceasefire agreement in Nagi Tekri of Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch at around 11:20am. This was followed by intermittent firing that lasted for some 15 minutes. However, when contacted, Army officials remained tightlipped.

Later in the evening, a BSF source said, "Pakistan Rangers fired at least three sniper rounds from across the border at around 6.15pm at STOP-2 Post of BSF in village Pindi of Arnia sub-sector of this winter capital. The BSF troops exercised restrained. No injury or damage was reported."

Indian forces must have retaliated..and there must be some impact of that across the LOC...nothing new... they shoot...we shoot..thats' how the story goes across the globe.

Some times i feel that these news are deliberately made to spoil the peace process, anyways if they did violate it. THey will get good response this time.

Somehow only ToI comes up with such pieces from "sources"..

Possible, but the timing of the attacks against India (be it the consulate in Afghanistan or maybe even the recent issues at the borders) are the important part! On the one side it is a provocation towards BJP and Modi, especially with their election rhetoric in mind, on the other side it makes it even more difficult for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to reach out to India for peace and improvement of the relations, without looking weak or too careless.
So it is possible, that these circumstances are created on purpose with certain aims in mind and without pointing fingers, but that must be worrying people in Pakistan as well isn't it?
We all know that both countries need peace to improve and grow and both countries actually can't allow certain parts of the community to work against this aim.
