Nothing beats iPAD or Samsung...Sony, ASUS and many others available including some local Chinese brands check your pocket and pick one suits your budget.

True, but there is no need to repent.... either stick with the same tablet for an year or so... or buy new one by selling your old tablet and investing 20-30% extra whenever there is a new model in the high street and you really feel you need an upgrade.

iPad is like an year old but you can easily sell it on ebay for almost retail price

There's no point of buying a tablet unless it has a digitizer pen/touch dual input, because otherwise you can do 95% of what you'd want to do on a tablet on your phone. I think the only slate tablets that fit that description are Lenovo Thinkpad and Asus EP121 but they're a lot more expensive than the others @ ~$1200+.
