So what do you think is the most credible international media outlet? (Relatively) .....

Lets discuss!!!

.
You should read from a wide variety of sources across the world, and then decide for yourself.

I tend to like reading financial broadsheets like the Financial Times, since they tend not to inject too many of their own personal opinions into the news.

The Economist is interesting because they are very upfront with their bias. They say right at the beginning that they are a right-wing, pro-free markets, anti-regulation publication, so I don't mind reading that either since the bias is an open one.

. .
Credibility of a media source has a lot to do with what you'd like to hear and whose ' side' you are on.

For instance , on this forum ppl cut & paste ' news' from blogs coz what it says suits them. We then discuss them for pages on end.

Apply this on a larger canvas & you'll get the point I am trying to make.

.
Well guys , atleast vote.

And this poll is JUST about 'electronic media' .. I am not talking about Newspapers...

Use your opinion via poll...and then comment..

Thanks!

Cheers

In my opinion, they are all biased in their own ways, I lost trust in media of every country, even Pakistan.

None, media is an extension of government policiesand propaganda world over. You can not trust anyone media outlet in all situations at all times.

For documentaries from international media BBC and Al Jazeera English are my choice.

News channels are a lot more sketchy, I'd stick with a local source instead of an international outlet if possible (a relatively neutral local source of course).

For online international media sources Reuters and AP for news would suffice, though I prefer to cross-check and diversify online sources. Also, many international media have blogs as well as the actual news, make sure not to make a mistake between them :)

.
Look, credibility is an arbitrary concept. All of us have that special vintage of propaganda to which we display a certain bias.

You see what you want to see and hear what you want to hear. And this is usually the human condition unless one is especially enlightened and detached from the world.

None of th IMHO, they all have vested interests and shady pasts. None is whiter than white and I would be skeptical of some of he reports from all. But the ones I distrust least would be BBC and CNN.

The WSJ and NYTs are quite respected too.

Exactly what i wanted to say. I don't think any media outlet can be 100% trusted, so in my opinion a person should see 2 or 3 view points along with some of his own research to find out the truth of any story.

BBC and CNN are not bad either, at least they are trying very hard to be neutral.

Trying harder than the rest anyway.

I don't read into American news networks to be honest. Their views are always influenced by corporations, particularly the ones that have shares in them.

Look at it this way with some examples:

Now, just imagine all of the corporations engaging in this kind of politics over and over again, and see just how insane it appears.

It's like as if corporations are people  People who like playing video games, trolling and stuff.

This similarly applies to news networks based over there. They are inevitably influenced by corporate interests and cheap marketing gimmicks.

  • BBC in my opinion is the best in the list. That's where I get all my international news from. And may be just a tiny bit biased when it comes to Afghanistan.
  • CNN's business news is nice. But still, they have liberal bias. I don't know, makes them look like a bunch of retards or something.
  • FOX NEWS...............the most EVIL of all news networks out there.
  • Al-Jazeera: The type that likes hanging out with the likes of the Taliban. Closet at least.
  • Russia Today: Funnily, they are as ridiculously as more anti-American than Al-Jazeera could ever be :woot: And yes, they are pretty evil.
  • Others like PressTV are pretty entertaining to say the least.
