Most of the writings were BSs. Without any doubt "Iran" is the best country in the world and middle of the world.
I am proud to be Iranian.

IMHO any country that borders both central asia and warm waters, can be considered to be of primary geo-strategic importance over the next century and beyond. from the list, only 3 countries fit that description.

From the countries on the list: India.

Otherwise, clearly the United States.

Offhand, I can think of atleast one manco Iran has: not very much arable land (less than France) despite a size of 3 times France and an overall bad soil quality.

This very important point seems to have been glossed over. Many Pakistani posters are under the impression that India wishes to destroy their country, however the opposite is true. Pakistan is our buffer absorbing the shocks and resisting the crazies on their shores, so India does not have to deal with the menace directly.

Its US. I know its not in list.

Any country that enjoys a solitary existence. Britain was cut off from continental europe and its heydays were the longest during european era. USA kept growing, away from the happening of the rest of the world and it became a superpower. other countries that come to my mind in todays world are countries of americas, japan, indonesia, australia, southafrica, newzeland etc

US-Its isolation from rest of the world is its greatest strength and biggest weakness.
India- Straddling the oil lanes and unchallenged power in an entire ocean once it gets its act together.
Protected by Himalayas in North, Jungles in East and Pakistan in West it can easily project its energies outwards towards the seas. Very difficult to naval blockade India because it has two enormous seaboards.

One of the major advantages of partition is we are safe from the spillovers and unrest in central asia and afghanitsan, to great extent.

Pakistan is the buffer that protected India from destruction coming from Central Asia. Remember all foreign invaders in India being it Persian, Greeks, Huns, Kushans, Turks, Afghans etc. invaded India through Pakistan in ancient time while the Great Game, Cold War and War on terror against Taliban is fought in the same region. We were saved from carrying the historical burden of North-West with partition of India.

Can't believe someone actually vote China, LoL. We have the worst geopolitical position, polo bear in the north, a retard lunatic regime North Korean that can drag us into the war anytime, in the south west we have India that will seek any chance to take advantage, in the east, we have three island chains that blocked us from entering the Pacific Ocean.
But this is not necessarily a bad thing, because it can keep us alerted at all times, it's good from a social Darwinism point of view.
US and Australia enjoy the most comfortable external environment.
