When the US was the only country having nukes in 1945 after WW2, should the US have conquered

yay or nay?

I don't think that is true. Do you have a source? The Soviets already detonated their first in 1949, so as long as they kept production running and devoted more resources to it, they could potentially have reached hundreds of nuclear warheads before we could wipe out the country. It's not a risk I'd be willing to take.

Also, check out the yields. 21kt... ummm, how do you wipe out a country as large and dispersed as the Soviet Union with 120 21kt weapons? This is also considering that a large numbers of the bombers would NOT have gotten through the air and fighter defenses, especially further into the country where Moscow, Stalingrad, etc. are located.

I gave you a source. going by how many Mark 3 and Mark 4 bombs were built.

21kt is nothing to snuff at and could level a small to medium city easily in the 1940's

we could of soften the Soviets up with nukes and pounded them by the air with conventional weapons.

their entire leadership and civilian population would of been mostly destroyed in the first strike.

this is all hypothetical, but we had the advantage for years.

even when the soviets made the a-bomb and build intercontinental bombers and ICBMs they still couldn't match us.

the so called "Bomber Gap" and "Missile Gap"

No, the Mk4 were produced from 49 on, which means they were produced after the Soviets had nuclear capability. If your source is to be believed, we had some 120-odd 21kt warheads.

Also, it would be good to take a look at the so-called "Bomber Gap" and "Missile Gap" before referring to them. They refer to the belief in America that we were BEHIND the Soviets, not ahead of them. That's what the 'Gap' was.

What if Lady Gaga had a tridimensional Martian Planet killer ? Would she still sing pop songs for the retarded or conquer planet Earth atop of a unicorn ?

lol, it takes a long time enriching uranium etc back in the day, you make one nuke use it kill 200,000 then that country goes out in all out attack last stand mode, you threaten them and fire off a few more and your then waiting 6 months to get another. Not to mention that NO county in the world would use nuclear weapons to annihilate another for occupation, the US borders have barely changed as opposed to others further East who still like to move borders around.

false or not, you make decisions base on what you believe you know, the US didnt have perfect intelligence on the soviet union, we can look back now and say sure the us may have had a 10:1 advantage but no one could be sure then, what if the soviets actually had double the nukes or hidden production plants or secret ability to nuke DC or whatever? case in point at the end of the cold war the US found out that the soviets had many more nukes than predicted. but could the US have done it and won ? i believe not without, major, major losses.
