You can find pictures of unveiled Saudi Arabian women in public in KSA and on beaches from that time period walking around local and foreign men without this causing much of a problem. I once posted those photos in a similar discussion and others from the Arab world to prove a point for ignorants.

Notice, such practices occurred among the middle and upper classes of the urban population. Far from among all anyway but students were one such group in general. It was the time Arab national-socialism and very secular rulers.

You can find such photos from all across the Arab and Muslim world in that time period and it says nothing or very little about the overall population in Muslim country x or y of that time.

Besides a hijab has nothing to do with Islamism. I know Muslim women who do not wear a hijab who are more practicing Muslims and know more about Islam than some who are wearing a hijab. Same with the "beard or no beard" analogy. Absolute nonsense from the beginning to the end.

It's not so strange brother. The Western media creates enemies of people who they perceive as threats or who do not follow their orders. The West has no interest in a strong and united Arab world which Abdel-Nassir worked for. We can agree or disagree with his ideology but he tried to make Egypt and the region stronger and less dependent on the West.

I mean during the Afghan-Soviet war the Taliban were best buddies with the US and West because they were fighting a bigger enemy (Soviet Union). Less than 25 years later they became bitter enemies and both are still engaged in a 13 year long war.

Who knows maybe the West will once again use Islamists or others in the Arab and Muslim world to fight enemies/deal with threats that they perceive as being greater?

Truth be told if the West wanted to deal with Daesh they would have done so long ago. My suspicion is that the West needs another 9/11 which would put immense pressure on the politicians to act.

That is why the Arab and Muslim leaders of which the vast majority are incompetent, almost all with outdated visions, need to grow stronger on all fronts so they can be able to decide their own faith.

Do you think that the vast majority of Egyptian women (not university students + upper class + higher middle class) did not wear a headscarf in the 1950's? Most Egyptians, Arabs + Muslims especially back then wore a headscarf. You are making it sound like nobody wore headscarfs back then. That's utterly false.

Nor is everyone in Egypt wearing headscarfs. Have you watched Egyptian television? I see women without headscarfs all the time. Same story in almost every Arab country.

Most of the population back then in Egypt lived on the countryside. Whether in Lower or Upper Egypt.

Besides there is nothing wrong with a headscarf as long as it is not forced upon a woman. It's a piece of clothing for God's sake. We have 1 million more important matters to focus on as Arabs.

Terorrism and retarded people are another discussion altogether and this has nothing to do with headscarfs.

Why do you perceive headscarfs as a threat? Are you threatened by bikinis as well? Or what about winter jackets? Or hats? Should people that live in countries that boost about their democratic traditions (which took centuries upon centuries to develop after killing well over 100 million people just in Europe) be forced to wear a certain type of clothing? Is that not exactly what you guys are criticizing? I find that ironic.

Maybe you will force Muslims to eat pork as not eating pork is creating terrorism. You Jews will have trouble with such a law as well.
