What's Your Partition/Family Background History?

i want to share u guys my family history:
my family are choudharys [landowners, nobles] as well as rajas [royal family] from kashmir
we have lived there forever and became muslim when islam first came to the region [very very long time ago lol]. We escaped to pakistan to aviod suppression from the indian forces and settled in azad kashmir and areas near it. we lost alot of land although we hand some papers with us so the government gave us a 24 room banglow and some 1000 acres of land but the locals trick us and family splitted and we had to start from scratch again. But i always believed its not about the money but about the people and legacy and we always wanted kashmir to accede to pakistan so we could get our home plus our family back. Our ancestral village is believed to be mendhar, poonch [my parents said its not far from the border]. anyway theres alot more than what i posted but this should give u the right picture. one day i should right a book about it
anybody else got some history to share?

My family are Chaudhrys too (Gujjars) and I can trace only Muslims in my family tree. I could trace 5 generations and all of them were Muslim.

My family are from a small town in Northern Punjab of Pakistan, not far from Kashmir...my grandparents didnt have to leave because my ancestral town became part of Pakistan thankfully.

My family is waraich commonly known as choudaries of gujrat .The history of waraich is very intresting like to share with you ,basically they are from bani israel settled in india arround 700BC developed city baraich aprox 150KM from Agra and also known as founder of hindu religion ruled india many handrad years ,when sher shah suri attacked on baber they moved to gujrat punjab where they continue war with gujars and randhawa for many years.

Arround two hundred years my grand parents converted to islam and migrated to batala tehsil Amratsar india before partition 1946 we settled in bahawal pur.Ghangi is the name of our village in batala tehsil Amratsar india.

im suprised u could date it back to 700 bc
my rajput side of the family has a traditional family tree line [most royal families carried the tradition down] and it goes real back in history
but i still gotta get my hands on it

Well i m also from a large renowned Pakistani caste, but i'll not talk about it as i don't believe in this stuff. Islam has distributed us in 'grohos' (groups) so that we can be easily accounted for. And we are just Pakistanis.period.
Otherwise Islam talks about "Umat" not Nation

U r right... if i write about my partition background and the background after it will take a huge bit and there is just too much personal information involved. But to say the least our family suffered the most horrible. We were spread all across india and specially in hyderabad we had everything and were infact ruling it and basically just because of mass indian terrorism we lost almost everything. Not only in 47... we guys moved sort of later. They just slaughtered us. They denied us rights or any justice. Police jailed us if we went to file murder charges.

Anyway this sort of discussion it sort of divides us and is too personal. It also divides us in the name of mohajir sindhi pathan and ****... its bullshit and sort of not needed because we all live and die for Pakistan and Pakistan is fused within our blood. Pakistan comes first second and last. All that matters is we have bled for the formation of Pakistan and that we continue to serve Pakistan with every breathe and every heartbeat. That is our responsibility.

Pakistan is all that matters.

Yes. I dont care about caste/tribes/ethnic groups either. We all are Pakistanis, but its good to know family history. Even within each ethnic groups different families have their own history.

Most important thing is we are Pakistanis

You may like to alter your thread a bit. Shift it to ask people about their journeys from india to inside Pakistan rather then asking them their caste and creed.

Having shared that, I think its great to talk about the backgrounds. Its really a fascinating study.

Dads parents lived in Hoshiarpur Indian Punjab and moved to Lahore in 1947.

Maternal grandmother is from a village near Rohtas, Jehlum area.

As for maternal grandfather his famuly linage can be traced to the caliph Abu Bakr Siddique, in dont know the exact sequence.........though.
