What's new

What's next warship designs for Vietnam Navy in future?

bro, price goes up again. I paid 1.41 euro a litre (super petrol) today at petrol station.

I know bro, but that's the price for petrol...the retailers and petrol Giants are making huge profits by not passing on the lower spot price for crude. Today's spot price for Brent has fallen to $61 a barrel and not likely to go up any time soon, not too long ago the price was above $100 a barrel.

As prices stay low, fewer companies will invest in search and drill function. A lot of projects are now on hold, indefinitely as a result of the low prices.

But think of the plus side of this, oil importers like vietnam will have to pay a lot less foreign exchange for their oil imports, and can invest more on development......

Hey @waz - put my name in next-time PDF expands its mods, threads like this always have off-topic, rude or unnecessary posts. I'd mod like no-one's ever modded before... seriously though, I'd like to be a mod:devil:.

On the topic (so I don't get "modded"):

Vietnam should opt for additional subs, perhaps the Lada/Amur class

As for surface vessels, Vietnam needs all aspect defenses, anti-air, ASW and Anti-surface - perhaps a destroyer design, and not a frigate or corvette - like the Sigma, will be needed:

Still, can't go wrong with the French FREMM

Or perhaps a partnership with either Japan or India

Not sure if it would be offered to Vietnam, but the Freedom Class is for sale

The USN has wanted to retire its Ticonderogas, perhaps Vietnam could ask for one? I don't know, just thinking out loud. But it never hurts to ask. Worse case scenario? You keep looking. Best case scenario? You have yourselves and air-defense cruiser!!!

The good new is Vietnam has a lot of options, the bad news is Vietnam has a lot of options. Take some time, make the right choice!!!

I'd buy American if I were Vietnam:usflag:... or Indian or Japanese!

It's great with 16x Brahmos
But does it fit our pocket ?

Destroyer is quite expensive my friend.
Quantity has its own quality .Vietnam.need large number of ships and subs.INS Shivalikis already a good choice. Two of them with Brahmos and Barak systems can divert evil eyes.

LOL ... :pop:

BrahMos missile lenght: 8.4 m, Navy version VLS system must be longer than it.
1. It's impossible to install a >8.4m BrahMos VLS in the midship, coz under the conventional AShM position there's Engine Room(Yellow section) & Ventilation Pipes no any more space.

2. It's possible to install near hangar deck ... but i doubt might BrahMos VLS to replace the hangar.
3. It's possible to install BrahMos VLS at the front of Sigma, but removing CIWS & VLS-lauched MICA missiles.

Here's the Indian Navy's DDG launched BrahMos VLS ... near helicopter deck but no hangar or there's a telescopic hangar.

Well that's a modified Khashin Class aka the Rajput class DDG.They were built during the early 80's andare totally obsolete in the present day scenario.Plus they are much smaller than the Delhi class or the newer Kolkata class ones and hence they have got only one helicopter deck with no hanger. The Kolkata class DDGs have a foward mounting 80 cell VLS which includes a 16 cell Brahmos UCLS and 64 for Barak-8/Barak-1 S.A.M.s.

I don't know what you're saying...

the ship that was firing the Brahmos is possibly INS Rajput.this DDG is used as a trial platform for multiple ASHM/SLBM missiles.it is a derivative of older Kashin Class Destroyer, which was used to carry 1 Helicopter, which this ship carry.

but this DDG(4900 ton class, even then these can carry 8 Brahmos and 4 SS-N-2Ds) is dwarved by our new gen frigates and DDGs..when you try to discuss Platforms armed with Brahmos, try to post this pics....

url

Shivalik Class(6100+ ton)(8 Brahmos VLS cells along with 32XBarak-1,24XShitl,2XHelo--standard for Frigates all over world)

or

Kolkata Class(7500+ ton)(16XBarak-1,48XBarak-8,16XBrahmos,2XHelos)

though it doesn't mean light ships can't carry Brahmos..even smaller OPVs(200+ ton) can be armed with 4+ Brahmos VLS(or any other ASHM) with some Anti Air Missiles' VLS as well..

@Penguin can explain,as he posted about similar configurations in the past(though it was some other ASHM,not Brahmos)

plus,don't forget about Brahmos Mini..

thanks bro for clarifying this point.

Ur Indian so cute ... i guess u didn't read my whole post before write ur comment here ... @madokafc and i discuss how the BrahMos VLS can install on a 1,600+ ton Sigma-class corvette not any Indian DDG ... LOL !

Sigma is good for Vietnam. I will not sugust any Battle Ship bigger than 5000T, include Kolkata-class.
