I dont really think anything except I dispute the claim here as casual observer. I am not a quran export so I wont be making claims that I cant defend, but the link I posted has a list of verses that are not really flattering. Let people who make claims defend it.
I am as passionate as if I was debating role of women in elizabethan britain/works of shakespeare... and probably have as much knowledge on the topic

.... and that is putting it mildly. However, even those who know would find it difficult to express their views frankly. But it is okay. The Quran says what it says.

To be fair, PDF did allow me a very nice long thread on Parsis in the past.

Difference was I kept it cultural and social. Hardly a couple of posts from the Zend Avesta.

frankly.. its does not matter what any book says.. what it is interpreted as is what matters. And currently, they are not interpreted well at all for the most part.

As with any complex issues, if there is ambiguity in interpretation, the content of the book should be updated to prevent further mis-interpretation. But most of the holy books are "untouchable" cannot be altered and hence open to interpretation as always.

One wonders, if the book was given by the almighty, all knowing, supreme being, why hasnt he figured out a way to put words that cannot be interpreted in any other way.

Dan Brown's words just seem so apt. "religion is flawed because man is flawed".
